I absolutely love to dine by the water. Especially if it's a seafood restaurant that serves tasty, fresh caught, local seafood treats. There is something magical about the rushing water. Food just tastes so much better when you're in beautiful surroundings. I'm talking about the Crab House in Jupiter, Florida, a stone's throw from the historic red tinted Jupiter Lighthouse. The Crab House is located right on the gorgeous blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean at the Jupiter Inlet just a few thousand feet from some of the nicest beaches on the east coast. table on the outdoor deck that is just a few feet away from the swirling blue waters. South Florida is blessed with many dining locations, and this one is simply one of the nicest and most tranquil to be found.

You have your choice of eating outside on the deck, which is closest to the water. Or you can go inside and have your meal on the raised, air-conditioned interior of this spacious waterfront restaurant. You don't have to worry about being squeezed in like some places. Being a local resident, it's always a treat to go there for lunch or dinner. It is in the heart of Florida's golf country as well.

It's always fun to go there for a leisurely lunch and watch the boats, the sea birds flying, and the beautiful water swirling by. Jupiter is blessed to have such beautiful water, semi-tropical swaying palm trees, and the great sunshine that Florida is famous for.

The Crab House is not a stuffy, formal place like some of the world renowned restaurants 20 miles south in Palm Beach. Sure you can dress up for the evening if you want to. You can also go there in casual clothes as well. For lunch shorts are fine. A leisurely lunch time, is one of my favorites at the Jupiter Crab House.

There is a nice bar inside that serves all the great tropical pick me ups that you desire. They also have some specials in the late afternoon for their happy hours. Afternoons are some of my favorite times at the Crab House. The usual beers, mixed drinks and wines are available.

Now on to the food! Let's talk about delicious fresh caught, Florida seafood. We started with some shrimp for appetizers. Very tasty, firm, shrimp with your usual cocktail sauce. Nicely chilled, and plump. We also had a nice appetizer of Golden fried Calamari.

So far so good. Give me shrimp and calamari with a nice cold beer, and I'm a happy camper. We were here for a late lunch at around 1:30 p.m. this particular day. There was no hurry to be anywhere, or go anywhere. So we chatted and watched the boats driving by.

I ordered The Mahi-Mahi (dolphin fish). This flaky white, fish was encrusted with Macadamia nuts with a tasty mango salsa. It also came with a rice side dish, and stir fry vegetables. Very tasty locally caught dolphin. I was quite happy and pleased.

My companion ordered the Grouper. The Grouper is a very tasty white, flaky fish native to Florida waters. This dish came with the same side of the Crab House' s special rice mixture. We were both quite happy with our orders, and the service.

The food was great, our server was quite pleasant, the beer was chilled. It was a lovely summer day. What more could you ask for? Great scenery, a beautiful waterfront location plus great Florida seafood.

Another great time to visit the Crab House is just before sunset. You still see the beautiful blue waters along with the sun setting behind the drawbridge on US Highway 1 about a third of a mile away.

There is plenty of parking outside of the Jupiter Crab House. Sometimes there are busloads of tourists that stop there to enjoy the waterfront dining experience at this beautiful dining spot. If you are ever in the Jupiter Florida area, make sure you stop at the Crab House.
