Summer Wedding Reception Color Trends

J. Darling
Summer is the most popular season for weddings, largely because the warm weather makes it possible for couples to take advantage of outdoor venues and enjoy the beautiful colors of nature. When planning the decor and color scheme for your summer wedding reception, think about the aspects of summer that appeal to you. The beach and other water themes, fresh fruits and flowers, and bright, bold colors are just a few places from which you can draw inspiration. Here are some suggestions for two hot wedding colors for summer ceremonies.

Aqua Blue and Red Wedding Reception Ideas
Choosing aqua blue would be perfect for a reception by the water, whether it be poolside, lakeside, or by the beach. Use white tablecloths and chair covers with aqua embellishments, like sashes on the chair covers and runners and aqua napkins. Aqua tablecloths could also be used instead of white. Dark red is a color that pops when combined with aqua. Throw some red into the decor with simple centerpieces of red flowers, such as red dahlias in aqua colored vases. (White vases would be a better choice if using aqua tablecloths.) Use aqua paper lanterns and string lights, such as these from Luna Bazaar. They also sell hand fans, which might be appropriate to have at tables for favors if the heat is going to be a factor. If you're serving alcohol, choose a signature blue cocktail to serve in a clear glass. For blue mixed drink recipes, click here.

Chartreuse Green and Fuchsia Wedding Reception Ideas
Green is another summer-friendly color. One hot color combo featuring green is chartreuse and fuchsia. Use chartreuse tablecloths and fuchsia napkins and white plates. Paper cylinders are summer wedding staples, because they have a summertime vibe and offer light for outdoor settings. Choose a mixture of chartreuse and fuchsia paper lanterns. Decorate the tables with centerpieces of pink or fuchsia flowers in clear, short square vases. If fuchsia flowers aren't available, use fuchsia vases and a combination of greens and white hydrangeas. An interesting way for guests to find their way to their tables is to have your place cards attached to a green fruit, such as a Granny Smith apple or pear. Serve Midori Sours or Green Apple Martinis as your signature cocktail.
