Summerfest 2010, the World's Largest Music Festival Lineup

Every year during the eleven days before July 4^th Milwaukee's lakefront explodes with music. Summerfest is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Music festival so this city is not just boasting it is a fact. There will be over eight hundred bands performing.

Each year they host the hottest bands from around the world on multiple stages with Lake Michigan as the backdrop. The music starts early in the day and continues late into the night. 2010 has an exciting lineup with more bands being added right up to the opening day. Where else can you hear nine time Grammy winner Cheryl Crow, Usher, The Moody Blues, and Carrie Underwood all in one place?

Summerfest 2010 starts on June 24^th with Tim Mc Graw and Lady Antebellum and Love and Theft on the main stage. Another stage will be rocking with The Wailers. Kool and the Gand will be rapping on a stage while Sheryl Crow performs on yet another stage. This is Summerfest. Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers can be found on the main stage on Friday. Public Enemy is just one of the many hip hop bands you can hear tonight. Dierks Bentley sings country among the many other bands on the other eleven stages.

Friday the 25^th will be the date of the Big Bang fireworks by the world famous Bartololotta Fireworks Co. This display will start at 9:30 and can be seen from almost anywhere on the Summerfest grounds. The best viewing however, is to grab a couple beers and find a spot along the rocks on the lake's edge.

On Saturday the 26^th you can experience the electronic magic and musical wizardry of Thievery Corporaration and if they are not enough for you Phil Vassar will be bringing his Traveling Circus to Summerfest. They are just two of the many bands and music entertainment acts who will be performing all day long on the eleven stages.

Justin Bieber will be bopping out for the teens on Sunday, June, 27 but don't despair there is plenty of music for the not quite teens and that is what Summerfest is all about Music For Everyone. An example of the great lineup for this day is Robert Randolf and the Family Band. This funk, soul, reggae, international, and all American band will have you hopping and dancing on the tables late into the night.

Eric Klapton will bring a special guest to the main stage on Monday the 28th. Who is this special guest? He is the "Who" Roger Daltry who was the lead singer with the Who and now has a very successful solo career. What a night this will be to see these two great Brits on the stage together. Who could ever follow this act but the appearance of Brooks and Dunn on their farewell tour? The Milwaukee Summerfest 2010 had to be a stop for them on this all important tour and they will perform Tuesday, June 29.

The Latin Hip Hop sensation, Pitbull will be performing on the 28^th along with Mint Condition another Hip Hop Band. Weird Al Yankovich makes an appearance to bring laughter and indecency to any music on Wednesday the 29^th. Another band known for their humorous performances is Guster and they will also be performing on Wednesday.

If by chance Usher is not your type of music, maybe you would rather see, The Moody Blues or the Chevelle. This is a band from across the border in Illinois who has been exciting rock fans with platinum record releases.

Santana with special guest Steve Winwood will be on the main stage July 1^st while Joan Jet and the Blackhearts have you dancing at yet another stage. The heavy metal band Scorpions "Rock You Like a Hurricane" on Friday, July 2^nd.

Speaking of the hottest stars, on Friday July 2 American Idol Live comes to Summerfest. You've seen them on TV, you've voted for them and now you get to see them live.

The Time Machine Tour of Rush finds it way south to Summerfest on July 3^rd . They will entertain you with their musical skills and outer space lyrics. For you Indie Rock fans, Modest Mouse will have a stage to themselves and an eager audience.

July 4^th is the last day of Summerfest 2010. Milwaukee's own American Idol star Danny Gokey will be on a Summerfest stage that day. Then wrapping up the main stage will be another American Idol star, Carrie Underwood.

At Summerfest 2010 there is something for everyone. For the kids there will be an activity tent sponsored by Target. U.B. The Band is a full rock band set including drum sets, guitars, and microphones set up for the kids to try out their own musical talents. There will be food vendors throughout the grounds from whom you can purchase an entire meal or just a snack. And of course no festival in Milwaukee would be complete without beer. Miller-Coors sponsors two stages and will have kegs of their favorite brews flowing.

Whether you plan to stay the eleven days or just one day you will have memories to last a lifetime from Summerfest 2010.
