Summer's Ending, But Fun in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Has Just Begun
Neighborhood: Fort Wayne

Well, the kids have all started back to school and the shelves of the local stores are lined with pumpkins, candy corn and Halloween costumes. But there are still plenty of fun activities to do outdoors in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the surrounding communities. In fact, there may be more to do now with all the fall festivals and school sports beginning than there was in the height of summer.

Sept. 15 and 16 is the Johnny Appleseed Festival. This festival celebrates the life and times of John Chapman better known as 'Johnny Appleseed' The festival is free and is filled with craft booths, food vendors period re-enactments and fun. With a kids "craft tent", farmers market and live music there is something for everyone . The festival is located at 'Johnny Appleseed' park next to the Memorial War Coliseum on Coliseum Blvd. Free parking is available at the coliseum or at the I.P.F.W. campus.

Sept. 18th - 22nd in Bluffton, Indiana is the annual 'Street Fair'. Bluffton is located just south of Fort Wayne on St. Rt. 1. The Street fair is fun for the whole family- with a huge parade, food and arts vendors, amusement rides and games this is definitely something to do to break up those long "back to school" groans from the kids.

Well, with school back in session on Friday nights you are sure to see the the spot lights shining and hear the bands playing at any of the local High Schools in town. Why not go out and cheer on the home team and of some fun supporting our local youth.? you can find a schedule of most school sporting events on your local school districts website.

If you have a toddler or preschooler at home this may be one of the best times of the year to take them to the Fort Wayne Children Zoo. With the older kids at school the zoo is much less crowded than during the busy summer months and the cooler temperatures make it better for you and for the animals. During the cooler Fall days you have a better chance of seeing the animals up close and moving around. The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is located on Sherman Blvd. In Fort Wayne and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week . Until Oct.. 15 when it will be closed for the season.

So, although summer may be coming to an end, there is still a lot to of fun to be had outdoors so... get out there Fort Wayne and enjoy your city!

"Hello" .........Michelle and to the growing numbers of people who have recently discovered this true National Treasure in the mist of Ft Wayne .......... Ain't she something, really...really what its all about. Unlike Tom Petty, This Alice Girl is fer real. So lookout "Mad Hatter & White Rabbit" make room at the table and lets have a spot of tea and some biscuits ...crank-up the "Moody Blues" and watch the emergence of this new and exciting literary marvel spread her wings across the cornfields and halls that Johnny Appleseed once walked ....... let the dance begin, crank the music up ...lookout World
