Summertime Detox Diet

Summer is the Perfect Time to Detox Your Body

Carla Raley
Do you find that you are headachy and tired much of the time? Have you gained weight, and do you feel bloated? Maybe your hair is not as shiny, and your skin is dull? Overall, you just feel heavy, and older than you are?

The best way to regain your health and energy is to start with a detox diet. Summer is the idea time to do that. The arrival of warm weather stirs up our desire to be active, and just like the ladies of older days did a spring cleaning, so can you spring clean your body to be ready for summer. With fresh fruits and vegetables so abundant right now, this is the perfect time.

You don't need any kind of drugs, either prescription or over the counter to detox your body. Nature is ripe right now with just what you need. There is no need to be hungry while you do this, either!

The first step is to fill your fridge with fresh fruits and vegetables. Toss out the processed food, the sugary stuff and white flour. The best way to begin a detox, so that you don't overwhelm your system, is to eat fresh fruit in the morning, all morning long if you want too. You can't eat too much of this, so just munch all day long. It's best if you don't eat anything else with this, just fruit alone. Watermelon, and plenty of it, is a really good detox food in itself.

Then for lunch, either continue with the fresh fruit, or switch over to raw vegetables. Eat a salad, as big as you want as long as it is raw, with an olive oil and vinegar dressing.

Keep to the raw fruit and vegetables until evening, and then you can eat a cooked meal with your family. Serve plenty of beans and other legumes, and some brown rice. Have plenty of nuts on hand.

You can eat this way forever, and will find greatly improved health. Or you can go further when your body feels ready for it, and switch that evening meal to all raw, also.

Drink herbal teas or pure water with lemon in it.

A good book to read on this type of diet is The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose.

Exercise will help your body eliminate toxins by keeping the blood pumping strongly, which will help your organs eliminate the waste and toxins. It will help you lose any weight quicker, and tone your body, too. Take a walk three or four times a week, join a gym, or just jump rope in your living room.

You might want to consider switching the products you use on your body, such as soap, shampoo, and conditioners, make up, and deodorants to natural products, too. A visit to your health food store, or checking out some online sites, such as Melaleuca, can help you find products that will interest you. Melaleuca also has a line of children's products that I like to buy for my own ten children, as well as a wonderful line of vitamins that I feel good about our family using.

You will be pleased with the way your body feels after a short time of this diet. Just be careful, once you feel comfortable with yourself, that you don't fall back into your old way of eating, and retoxify your body. It shouldn't be too hard to do, because if you stay on your detox diet long enough, you will lose most of your cravings for the unnatural foods.

It may seem a little expensive at first to shop this way, but you will realize all the money back in your renewed good health, when you stop needing the over the counter headache and body ache drugs. You won't need as many doctor visits, and you will have the energy to do the things you didn't feel like doing before. You will notice improved stamina, shiny hair, clear skin, less stress, and overall wellbeing!
