Summertime Smoothies

Healthy, Nutritional Options for Kids

When your child is looking for a cool down, refreshing drink during this summer heat, you can feel good offering one of the following smoothies. They are made with no sugar or preservatives therefore, you don't have to worry about serving up extra, empty calories.
You will have leftover sections of melon to serve on the side as a healthy snack as well
Made with Vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast or Instant , Nonfat Dry Milk, you are adding nutrients your child needs.

If you choose the Carnation Instant breakfast : mix one envelope with 1 cup of water, let set for a few hours then make the smoothies.

If you choose the Nonfat Dry Milk: mix 3 cups of water to one envelope of dry milk (yield 1 quart)

Banana Strawberry Orange Madness

One Banana (not overly ripe)
6 Large, Ripe Strawberries
2 Oranges, halved
1 cup of either Carnation instant breakfast mix or one cup of Nonfat Dry Milk mix
2 Teaspoons of Vanilla
6 Ice cubes

Place ice cubes into the smoothie machine or blender and blend
Add the liquid (milk or breakfast mix)
Add Banana and Strawberries, one at a time, continue blending until smooth
Sqeeze the juice of the oranges into the mixture, continue blending
Add Vanilla, continue to blend until smooth
Pour and enjoy

Canteloupe Honeygoodness

One Canteloupe , cut into sections (approx 8)
One Honeydew Melon, cut into sections (approx 8)
One Orange, halved
1/4 Raspberries
1 Cup of either Carnation instant breakfast mix or one cup of Nonfat Dry Milk mix
2 teaspoons of vanila
6 Ice cubes

Place ice cubes into smoothie machine or blender and blend
Add the liquid (milk or breakfast mix)
Add 3 sections of canteloupe, one at a time, continue to blend
Add 3 sections of honeydew melon, one at a time, continue to blend
Squeeze the juice of the orange into the mixture, continue to blend
Add the raspberries, continue to blend
Add Vanilla, continue to blend until smooth
Pour and enjoy
