Get to church early. Most churches now have an early morning worship service on Sunday. I'm almost inclined to think that part of the reason these types of services were created, is because of the number of football fans that are out there. If you make it to an eight o'clock or nine o'clock service, you should be done in plenty of time to catch your game at noon. Of course to get up early, you have to go to bed early. You'll have to hit the sack a little earlier but at least you won't miss the game on Sunday.
Hit record. If you can't get home in time to see the game record it. Recording can really be a super option. Of course everyone likes to watch the game live but there can be some advantages to recording the game. First you can use a DVR box and avoid the hassle of buying video tapes or DVD's. Second you can fast-forward through all the commercials. Everyone knows that NFL games are full of commercials. It seems everytime there is a change of possession their is a TV timeout. This can lead to over 3 hours to watch a game. You will literally cut this time in half by simply recording the game and fast-forwarding. Of course you can always rewind and rewatch great plays as well. Knowing you have the game recorded will make it a little easier to bear sitting through church service.
Go to an evening service. This idea is a little tougher but it is an option. Stay home during the day and watch the game and then attend service on Sunday night. This way you won't miss the game and you will make it to church. Be careful with this one. If you're not careful, you will find yourself becoming lazy and deciding just to stay home altogether. Of course with Sunday night football you may again be tempted to watch football.
Just get over it. The reality is most church services are over by 1:00 pm. If you get home soon after that, you will have missed at most 1/2 of the game. Your favorite team won't be playing at noon every Sunday anyway. Learn to deal with this small inconvenience. You will get the best of both worlds by doing this. It will require some sacrifice but you can't do it.
