"Boo" Rochman Memorial Park (aka Castle Park)
While not located in Marion, the "Boo" Rochman Memorial Park (also often called Castle Park) is worth the drive to nearby Carbondale for. This park is a privately-owned, open to the public, memorial to Jeremy Rochman, who was killed in a car accident near the site. Rochman's parents created the park as a tribute to their son and local residents of all ages have found great joy in the mystical, magical theme of the park. A large castle--complete with trap doors, secret passages, bridges, a tower, and a dungeon enthrall visitors of all ages. The grounds of the park is decorated with statues of dragons, wizards, knights and other fantastic creatures.
The park is usually open from dusk to dawn daily and is maintained through donations. This is a great outing for a Sunday afternoon!
