Sunday School Teacher Mistaken Identity, Pirates Bring Oddball News for Tax Week

Em Robbins
The last seven days of news have been crazy, featuring some raucous, crazy and fun stories to distract us from our economic woes. Here is a quick recap of what has been going on in the news for the past few days.

Tormented California Sunday School teacher suffers from a public case of mistaken identity

You've got the wrong Huckaby! A California Sunday school teacher and mother of two was arrested for the murder of an 8-year-old girl. The 28-year-old Tracy teacher, Melissa Huckaby, accused of raping and killing an 8-year-old playmate of her daughter from Tracy, California. Huckaby is the granddaughter of a Baptist Pastor.

As if that weren't crazy enough, hate mail and death threats being erroneously sent to another Sunday school teacher in Manteca, also named Melissa Huckaby, located just 12 miles from Tracy. The uninvolved Huckaby also bears some resemblance to the accused, physically and in her career and motherhood. Unfortunately, she has been a victim of death threats, hate mail and messages on her Myspace that have caused her to fear for her life.

Will the lunatic fringe please be assured that the accused killer Melissa Huckaby is in jail on suicide watch, and refrain from sending any further death threats to an innocent nearby Sunday school teacher?

ARR! Pirates! Coolest story in years!

Pirates! Have been attacking United States ships, and Navy Seals were sent in to free a kidnapped Captain of one of the ships that were attacked. The Captain of the ship was kidnapped when his vessel was stormed by Somali pirates, and the crew was able to fight off the pirates, but not before the pirates took the Captain. President Obama gave the Navy Seals the go-ahead to extricate the Captain from the ship, and in one precision swipe involving three bullets shot simultaneously by skilled snipers, killing three pirates, the Captain was rescued. Captain Richard Phillips is now safe. Yay!

They decided to take out the pirates when they saw him near Phillips with AK-47 rifles. Meanwhile, ships continue to be attacked, and I have a suggestion. Fill a dummy lure ship or two with Navy Seals, float, kick butt, repeat.

Phil Spector was convicted

Spector was finally convicted of the murder of Lana Clarkson. Did anyone else forget this trial was going on? I practically thought the guy was dead already.
