Sunflower Oil is Good for Your Hair

Sunflower, also called Helianthus annuus, is the source of sunflower oil. Sunflower oil is derived from the seeds of the bright yellow, beautiful sunflower. Sunflower oil is packed with vitamins and minerals. It also has linoleic acid, an unsaturated omega 6 fatty acid. Sunflower oil has a variety of benefits. It is helpful in skin conditions, it lowers high blood pressure and cholesterol, prevents heart disease, migraines and headaches as well as asthma and inflammation. It's used in cooking, in cosmetics and in hair products.

Sunflower oil is chock full of nutrients such as vitamins A, B 1 and B 5, B 6 and C as well as Vitamin E. Sun flower oil is a store house of minerals which includes folate and iron, potassium and calcium. This light yellow colored nutritious oil may be applied directly on the hair as a conditioner or a pomade or purchased in hair products such as shampoos, hair conditioners or as a hair pomade. Sunflower oil adds luster and shine and protects the hair from the absorption of ultra violet waves. It also makes the hair feel smooth and soft and gives it a luxuriant look.

Sunflower oil acts as an emollient or moisturizer and is important in keeping the skin supple and moist, prevents dry flaky skin it keeps the hair and scalp moisturized. The use of sunflower oil on the hair and scalp or the use of hair products that contain sunflower oil will adhere to the surface of the hair and scalp, this prevents the loss of natural moisture from the hair, prevents dry flaky scalp and keeps the hair shiny and healthy looking.

In addition to sunflower oil moisturizing effects, its rich content of vitamins and fatty acids nourishes and conditions the hair and scalp. Sunflower oil also contains an ultra violet protective filter that helps to retain hair coloring, highlights and gives the hair a shiny, healthy and luxurious look.
