Must-Try Menu Items

Washington Post calls Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant a "vegetarian oasis." The menu features an array of health-conscious dishes from made-to order soups, healthy appetizers, organic salads to wheat noodles and pasta and entrees with brown rice.

Although Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant serves Asian dishes, you will find nothing that is quintessential Japanese, Chinese or Thai.

Locals rave about the Popeye's favorite (homemade fresh potato pie mixed with spinach, soy protein and veggie-bacon in custom-made black pepper sauce), chunks of soy protein in hot Kung Pao sauce garnished with steamed broccoli and carrots, aptly called the General Tso's surprise and the robust organic wanton soup. The Japanese style barbecue kabobs are actually grilled white mushroom fresh shitake mushroom, soy protein, asparagus and zucchini garnished with mixed greens and thin noodles.

The veggie-sushi parlor at Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant won't disappoint ardent sushi lovers. Opt for the Zen Roll made with avocado, hiyashi seaweed and cucumber or the Inani sushi, which is actually marinated tofu skin stuffed with brown rice, sesame seeds, crispy bean curd, sea cress and the original shiso.

The dishes on Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant menu will amuse the most discerning diner. The Adventure of Temph Land is organic marinated, baked tempeh (five grains) sautéed with red pepper, snow peas, asparagus, baby corn and white mushroom blended with the zesty Thai styled curry sauce; the Lucky Shines Bright is grilled soy protein in a layer of seaweed cooked with red wine and balsamic sauce, vibrantly presented on a plate full of zucchini, yellow squash, red bell pepper and organic king oyster mushrooms, served with mango and cranberry chutney.

Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant believes in keeping it healthy for its patrons. From azuki beans, buckwheat, chickpeas, black soybean to hijiki, kabocha and lily bulb, the ingredients are not mere embellishments but complete the dish in a meaningful way.
