L'Oreal Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer and Skin Enhancer for the Body in Medium: This product comes in several different shades and I have used both the fair and medium formulas. Sublime Glow contains Mango Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, and Vitamin E to moisturize the skin while gradually building a tan and micropearls to give a little bit of shimmer.
Pros: The medium formula is my favorite of all the cheap sunless tanners because I'm able to seamlessly build healthy-looking color that doesn't look orange or fake in about seven applications. The bottle the product is packaged in is easy to use, and it's worth the price, which is around $12. The shimmer is also nice and I didn't need to use an additional moisturizer.
Cons: Any product that contains dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is going to give off an unpleasant odor, and self-tanners are infamous for that DHA chemical smell. When you apply Sublime Glow initially, you will notice that there is a light green tea scent, but after awhile you will notice the tell-tale smell of a self-tanner. Sublime Glow is also a little more runny than most moisturizers.
Jergens Natural Glow Revitalizing Daily Moisturizer in Fair/Medium: This product contains moisturizers and antioxidants, and with daily use, the user should have the desired result in about a week.
Pros: The greatest advantage of this product is its low price. The packaging is easy to use and the product is thicker than Sublime Glow. It also tans more aggressively than L'Oreal's Sublime Glow, which comes in handy for people who don't have a week to devote to building a tan. I also didn't need a separate moisturizer after using this product.
Cons: Having said that this item has a stronger tanning power, I found that no matter how careful I was when applying the self-tanner or how much I had exfoliated prior to tanning, I still ended up with streaks and patchy areas around my knees and ankles. While this could be due to user error, this seems to be a common problem with this item according to other reviewers on Make-Up Alley. This product also made me look somewhat orange and the self-tanner smell was very strong, lasting even beyond a shower.
In comparing these two gradual self-tanners, I would say that overall L'Oreal Sublime Glow is the superior product. While they are both in the same price range, Sublime Glow allowed more room for error and the color was much more natural than with the Jergens product. I will definitely purchase Sublime Glow again this summer.

Post a CommentI may have to try this, I am a ghostly white, especially my legs and never go in the sun. I usually have one tan per year and that is on my left arm since I drive everywhere, while my right arm stays a normal pale color!
Great info! I am off to buy my first self tanner of the season. I usually use Jergens but will try Loreal this time. Thanks!
I agree that sunless tanning is much better than baking the skin:)
