Sunnyvale Considers Ban on Plastic Bags

Every year in the United States, retailers provide over 38 billion "single-use plastic carryout bags" for their customers. Some of these bags are recycled and some end up in our waterways according to the City of Sunnyvale.

Sunnyvale City Council is considering banning these bags in our local stores. There is a current study underway and you can voice your opinion about the ban. Thursday, October 21, 2010 there are two meetings at the following locations:

Morning meeting--10 a.m. -11:30 a.m. Sunnyvale Community Center Neighborhood Room (meeting held in the Recreation Building), 555 E. Remington Drive, Sunnyvale

Evening meeting--7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer Station, 301 Carl Road in the administrative building

Your feedback will become part of the report that will impact the Council's decision whether to ban--or not ban--the use of plastic bags at the checkout counter in our local stores.
