Considering it is the birth place of our great nation it is no surprise that Philadelphia celebrates the 4th of July in major way. Partnering with Sunoco the city of brotherly love host a week long celebration of fantastic events. Millions of people flock to Philly each year to participate in activities and festivities that are offered.

A staple in and around the Philadelphia area since 1993, Sunoco Welcome America is not to be missed. With a variety of music,food and fun for all ages there is undoubtedly something for everyone. Events are located throughout the city and are free for everyone to enjoy.

From Opera to pop, the music offerings during Sunoco Welcome America are second to none. Opera lovers are sure to enjoy the concert at Rittenhouse Square, this year featuring Sharon Sweet. The Waterfront Concert and Fireworks at Penn's Landing featuring Chaka Kahn, Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore on June 30th is sure to be a blast. Capping off the festivities on July 4th is the Sweet Sounds of Liberty concert on the Steps of the historic Philadelphia Museum of Art. Every year this concert is televised locally and it manages to attract well known performers like this years main feature Hall and Oates.

There is certainly no shortage of great foods to enjoy while you gallivanting around the city. Indulge in a traditional Philly Cheese Steak at one of the many Sandwich shops. Grab a Philly Pretzel from a street vendor. You can also join the masses at the Taste of Philadelphia event and stuff yourself to the rafters with samplings of the regions best foods.

Finally if fireworks are what you are looking for the Sunoco Welcome America display is second to none. With fireworks displayed on not one but two nights, your sure to catch a glimpse. The waterfront at Penn's Landing has a fantastic show on Saturday, which is absolutely beautiful over the water. Then finishing out the week on the 4th is a fireworks display right on the steps of the art museum.

Visit Philadelphia, soak up the culture and history. Eat the food and enjoy the events. If you have never experienced Philadelphia on Independence day, you truly don't know what you are missing.
