Sunshine in a Shoe

Arkay Evans
Lift me,
won't you lift me up?
The weight of bronze just keeps me down,
and says what God does bring together,
may no human put asunder,
Now I understand,
that he drips this quote,
and is that man-
the silly fool,
using a religion for the rules he uses
to fit my sunshine in a shoe-

And out of fear once fallen
of failure I kept on trying and tried again
to bend over backwards and
graciously comply,

But this kinda love
is just another sharp stick
and I am the bloodshot eye,

Still singing in the bathtub,
dreaming more than big enough,
saying my prayers and chants to thrive,

But like my grandma always said,
It always is what it always was,
long before the youth in a woman dies,

So here I am
at a clearing, knowing,
I did the last thing on the damned bucket list
a little too damned soon I guess,
but at least I know,
by faith I've gained-
and I refuse,
will not wear another man's bronzed-up blues,
Cuz' this is MY Size 10 Sunshine
and it'll never fit those baby shoes

And what matters most is you can tell that man where your size 10 shoes can fit. Like the poem is says a lot about not taking things at word. Nice Job
