Sunshine for Summertime

Summer's Sexiest Shade

Kate Michael
Summer's cool hues are often predicted by design icons, stylists, and fashion media. Diane von Furstenberg ranted, for example, that "the coolest colors for this summer are white, turquoise, and tangerine - in any combination." While shades of orange, blue, and the ever-popular and wearable white are certainly showing up on the summer scene, the shade of the season is yellow.

From golden to jonquil, and marigold to canary, there is a wide range of sunny shades and hues accommodating any skin tone - especially for those with a tan (and with so many cost-conscious and skin-saving options available, who won't be a bronzed beauty this summer!). Drew Barrymore has seen the light in a shining silk Carolina Herrera cocktail dress, and Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon was recently photographed in a brilliant ruffled one-shoulder by Malandrino.

Even for those not braced to be so bold, yellow accessories are the trend of the moment. Pumps, stilettos and flats all come in this summer's sexy shade, and handbags to match complete the look.

So brighten up, yield to yellow, and put some sunshine into your summertime!
