Super Bowl 2010 Kickoff Time Countdown Begins in Earnest

Robert Dougherty

The Super Bowl 2010 kickoff time now looks a little closer. Currently, the Super Bowl 2010 kickoff time is just six days away as Super Bowl hype begins in earnest. For the next week, the buildup will grow until the actual game starts at approximately 6:25 pm EST on February 7. With no more Pro Bowl controversy, the real biggest game at Miami this month is on the horizon. And once the Super Bowl 2010 kickoff time arrives, everyone will be sick of hearing about it, as usual.

Super Sunday sometimes came a week after the conference championship games, but that was long, long ago. To maximize the hype - whether it makes the players rusty or not - fans have to wait two weeks before the championship match. Therefore, the buildup doesn't really begin until the wait is halfway over.

That time has come now, as the Super Bowl 2010 kickoff time is six nights away, and the Colts and Saints begin their preparation in earnest. The two teams arrive today, although the Pro Bowl players from the Colts and Saints had to get there first to attend the game - though they couldn't play. But now that the Pro Bowl is over, the Super Bowl is now the undisputed focus.

For the next week, the Colts and Saints will deal with massive media attention, the notorious Media Day, and the Miami nightlife. In between, they will actually get ready for a game at some point.

Indianapolis may have to alter their defensive game plan, since Dwight Freeney is very questionable to play, and likely won't be at full strength if he does. New Orleans and Drew Brees can plan to take advantage accordingly, though they remain a 5-point underdog.

The other big storyline up to the Super Bowl 2010 kickoff time will involve New Orleans and the Manning family. Everyone knows that New Orleans has a Super Bowl team, just four years after Katrina - and everyone knows that Saints' legend Archie Manning has to root for son Peyton and the Colts instead. If they didn't know that, it will now be drilled into fans for the next six days.

Super Bowl week is the most exciting of the year for NFL fans and perhaps the most aggravating. Once the kickoff comes, viewers will be tired of the hype, and will just want the game to start. If the Colts and Saints provide an ugly game, or a blowout, then the days of hype will have been for nothing.

Anything approaching the last two Super Bowls - and not the Colts' rainy 2007 championship in Miami - will be appreciated. But no one will know for sure until the Super Bowl 2010 kickoff time comes, at around 6:30 p.m., this Sunday.

Mr Doughtry need to stick to Arts & Entertainment. He obviously has no enthusiasm for sports at all, not to mention sensitivity to the emotional situation this is for the teams and the people of New Orleans. This is huge. Mr D. Please give your superbowl tickets to someone who cares and go see a play.
