Do you need ideas for Super Bowl appetizers? This article will get you started with some great basic appetizers. During the Super Bowl people want to eat a bunch of yummy food while they watch the game and the amazing commercials. Try to mix up the hot and cold foods for variety. It's also a good idea to have at least one vegetarian option.
  1. Spinach Dip. Defrost a package of frozen spinach and drain it. Mix that with one package of powdered ranch dressing mix and a cup of sour cream. You can serve this appetizer in a bread bowl, or just in a regular glass bowl. Serve with slices of sourdough bread or strong chips for dipping. For a lower in fat alternative, use plain non-fat greek yogurt in place of sour cream.

  2. Guacamole. This is a classic Super Bowl appetizer. Start with five or six ripe avocados, and mash them up, leaving some chunks for texture. Add one diced jalapeƱo pepper, a diced garlic clove, and a tablespoon of diced cilantro. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste then add the juice from two limes to prevent it from browning. Serve with chips. To kick it up a notch, add a quarter cup of diced red onions.

  3. Chicken Wings. During the Super Bowl, chicken wings are always a popular appetizer. Grab a bag of frozen wings that are precooked. Toss them in the oven to reheat them before serving. To mix it up, serve the wings with three different dipping sauces that you either make yourself or get from a jar.

  4. Stuffed Mushrooms. Pick out big button mushrooms at the store, clean them and remove the stems. Dry the mushrooms thoroughly. Mix together shredded cheddar cheese, any other shredded cheese you like, and enough cream cheese to make the mix sticky. Stuff the mushroom tops with the cheese mixture, and bake in a 350 degree oven until the cheese melts.

  5. Raw Veggies. For an easy appetizer that will keep the dieters happy, put out a tray of cut veggies with a few store bought dips. Ranch dressing and hummus are two solid choices. Buy baby carrots, sugar snap peas, then cut up some celery sticks. To add some color and fun texture cut up strips of jicima and add bite size broccoli florets.

Now that you have some ideas for appetizers to serve during the Super Bowl, make a grocery list and head to the store. Don't forget some decorations. Buy fun football shaped paper plates and napkins with a football theme. Serve your appetizers in football shaped containers for more fun. Remember to refill each appetizer in between quarters, and you will have a great Super Bowl party with great food!
