5 Dips Sure To Get You Dipping Back into the Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday

Nicole K.
It's Super Bowl Sunday, and the house is filled with people screaming and yelling for their favorite team to win, and maybe for something else, like new snacks and dips to satisfy their hunger. You may not be able to predict the score, the winner, or the hottest new commercials, but there is one thing you can control. The best party dips for Super Bowl 2010 are here, and are quick, easy, and satisfying. Here are 5 dips sure to get you dipping back into the bowl on Super Bowl Sunday.

A small addition to a traditional favorite can make a huge impact in taste and flavor. First lightly melt an 8 oz. package of cream cheese in the microwave. Remove, add, and mix to one container of your choice of salsa. Stir and grab yourself a large bag of tortilla chips, nice accent bowl, and get the party started!

Here's another fun way to spice up the traditional chips and salsa. Purchase a large bag of Scoops Tortilla Chips, jar of salsa, and a bag of shredded cheddar cheese. Enjoy making mini nachos by first placing the Scoops Tortilla Chips on a platter, fill each with a small spoonful of salsa, and top with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese. Pop these small delights into the microwave, just long enough to melt the cheese, and you've got yourself another dip that is sure to please.

Next, a personal favorite of my friends and family, my mom's famous taco dip. This long-lasting traditional dip has been made by mom for every holiday and occasion since I can remember. Begin by browning up a pound of ground beef on top of the stove. Layer the bottom of your 8x11 dish with a can of refried beans, add the cooked ground beef on top, and continue layering with the following ingredients: beef, refried beans, salsa, diced up chili peppers, and shredded cheddar cheese. Continue to layer with each ingredient, and sprinkle cheddar cheese on the top. Then cook at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted. Once again, serve with tortilla chips and chow down.

Feel like that great pizza taste but don't feel like waiting for a pizza to be ordered? And your not quite sure you could eat a full meal after all of the Super Bowl day snacking. Try a great alternative: Pizza Dip! Soften one package of cream cheese and then spread lightly in a pie pan. Cover cream cheese with 1 small jar of pizza sauce. Next add 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese. You may also add any desired fillings: olives, onions, mushrooms, or pepperoni. I, myself, prefer it more plain, but for the men at your house, who like a more hearty meal, add as many as you'd like. Cook at 325 for 20 minutes. Serve with chips, crackers, or breadsticks, and enjoy your bite sized pizza flavor.

Last but certainly not least, one of my favorite dip recipes which I received at my bridal shower, and has been a hit ever since. This dip is sure to score you a touchdown at your house. It's the famous Spinach Artichoke Dip straight from the recipe card, here it is. First, you will need: 1 shredded bag of gruyere cheese, 1 box of frozen artichoke hearts and 1 box of frozen spinach, (thawed, drained, and chopped) 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of oregano, ½ teaspoon of white pepper, and 1 cup of breadcrumbs. Combine all ingredients except breadcrumbs. Pour into a baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and bake until cheese is melted. Can be served with pita chips, crackers, chips, and anything else...get creative!
