Super Bowl XLII Free Pick, Best Bet - The time is upon us and everyone is buzzing about Super Bowl XLII, which will be played between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants on February 3rd in Glendale, Arizona. It is now time for your free picks for the Super Bowl from Wordsleuth.

Giants -14 over Patriots

The line for this game started very, very high and that is for two reasons. 1) the Patriots are really, really good and 2) the oddsmakers have to set a very high line because of the interest that the normal bettor would have betting on the Patriots. That means that this line is actually inflated by probably four points over what it should be.

Yes, the Patriots are good, but don't forget the Giants played them well in the Meadowlands and the Giants have been playing very, very well away from home. The Giants will also be coming in with a ton of confidence after their NFC Championship win in the snowy confines of Lambeau field.

Also, don't forget that the Patriots have not been blowing out opponents in the second half of the season like they were in the first half. The Patriots might be 18-0, but they haven't been destroying anybody.

The Patriots have also been to 3 of the past 6 Super Bowls, and have won none of these by a larger margin than three points. I liken this game to the 2004 Super Bowl that they played against the Eagles. The Patriots will outplay the Giants like they did against the Eagles, but in the end a late score will make this game look a lot closer in history than it will when you watch it live. Super Bowl XXXIX was only a three-point game, but the winner was never in doubt.

Pick the Giants before the line moves to show what it really should, about a 10-point spread instead of 14 points.

Happy Betting and enjoy the big game!

With all the picks made it is time for me to remind you that these are merely the best plays on the board as I see them and they are not guaranteed winners, nothing is guaranteed. I hope you have fun with these NFL selections and good luck this weekend. All lines are gathered from BetUs.com and from Wagerline.com and were accurate at the time of this article being written. Keep in mind, line movement may occur.

Remember not to bet more than you can afford to lose and betting should be for fun only. If you have a gambling problem I urge you not to place a wager.
