Like most people in the good old US of A this week my mind is on the upcoming Super Bowl even though the contestants are yet to be decided!
Avid readers of my writings may recall that last year I successfully picked the Saints who were very much the underdogs.
Having just returned from a trip abroad which took me to my beloved Malta and to my homeland of Great Britain the GBP had been very much on my mind. I speak of course of the British Pound!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
GBP usually refers to pound sterling, the British currency.
GBP may also refer to:
- Ginger beer plant, a culture of yeast and bacteria used to produce the drink
- A gun buyback program in the United States
- Gables Residential Trust (stock symbol: GBP)
- The Green Bay Packers, an American football team in Wisconsin, U.S.
Well I for one won't be investing in Ginger Beer plant though I would very much like a piece of the beer sales during the Super Bowl event!
The gun buyback program is one I totally support. I don't care how I offend the gun toting supporters - all other than sporting (single shot) rifles SHOULD BE BANNED!
Nobody hunts with pistols and if you need to fire an assault rifle you should join the army!
I don't know anything about Gables Residential Trust, whoever or whatever it may be, and for that matter I don't want to.
But the Green Bay Packers - that's another story!
I should at this time point out that I know absolutely nothing about American Football, or any other football for that matter - At school I played football but if you laid hands on the circular orb that was the focus of the game you were disqualified - I speak of course of what you know here as Soccer!
Never the less like most of you out there in TV land, I'm glued to my set and can't wait for the big day!
15 years ago during my involvement with the Hilton Grand vacation Club I befriended a gentleman by the name of Lee Linns (sorry Lee if I've misspelled you name?)
There was nothing Lee didn't know about the Packers and it was all he could do to keep from walking around with a lump of cheese on his head (I still don't understand the significance!) I don't believe he ever played for them - more like the water boy I imagine! LOL Sorry Lee - couldn't resist.
Anyway I'm sure he's jumping up and down at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised to see him sitting up front on the big day!
Well Lee this is just to let you know that my money is on the GBP - Go Packers.
Enjoy the game whoever wins
