Super Bowl Party Ideas

Are You Ready for a Party?

Every February professional football fans around the United States gear up for that one big party that marks the end of the football season: The Super Bowl. To many it doesn't matter what teams go to the final game. They still throw a Super Bowl party for all of their friends and family. Everyone converges in their different team jerseys on one house, friendly wagers are made and food and drink are in abundance. If you are planning on hosting one of these great shindigs in 2009, then you may be looking for some tips on how to make your Super Bowl party THE one to attend.

First off, what do you need for a successful Super Bowl party? Well, obviously chips and dips at the bare minimum. But if you really want to go all out for this year's party, here is a small shopping list of things to offer your guests in the way of food and drink:

· Barbeque wings

· Rotell cheese dip and tortilla chips

· Spinach dip

· Mini subs

· A cake in team colors

· Chili

The barbeque wings you can purchase at your local grocery store already coated or you can prepare them yourself at home. The Rotell cheese dip simply requires a can of Rotell tomatoes and green peppers mixed with Velveeta. Mini subs from Subway work great and we're sure you probably have a great chili recipe somewhere in your recipe file.

Drinks can range from non-alcoholic to alcoholic depending on the age range and preference of your guests.Easy alcoholic drinks include beer and afew bottles of wine. If you want to go with a non-alcoholic atmosphere, offer your guests something fun like non-alcoholic beer and sparkling grape juice. Or you could easily mix up a fruit punch that could correspond to team colors. For example, if one of the teams going to the Super Bowl happens to be the Buffalo Bills, you could mix up a cherry fruit punch with blue raspberry ice cubes, matching the red and blue motif of the Bills' uniforms. Of course if you intend for it to be non-alcoholic you may want to post a guard on the punch bowl!

Decorating for your Super Bowl party is easy and most of the supplies you need can be found at your local party store or Wal-Mart. How much you decorate is entirely up to you, but if you want to pull out all the stops, team colored streamers, table cloths, plates, forks, and napkins are a definite must. Add some fun colored balloons around the house and if you know your crowd is going to get rowdy, provide them with some additional noisemakers such as party poppers and other items. Half of the fun of watching the game at a Super Bowl party is the good natured rabble rousing that comes with it.

If your favorite team happens to be one that is playing, pull out your collection of team items and place them around the house where they can be seen and enjoyed without getting destroyed. One family I know of are Pittsburgh Steelers fans. Each year they decorate their Christmas tree and the rest of their house with Steelers items. If the team does well and makes it the Super Bowl, you can bet that some of their decorations for the Super Bowl party will include a fully lit Christmas tree.

Finally, announce your Super Bowl party in style with homemade invitations that your friends will enjoy. Post what teams are playing, what attire is required - team jersey's, hats, t-shirts, etc. - and whether or not you want them to bring anything. Decorate your mailbox and front door with team colored ribbons and balloons so everyone knows where you are. And above all else, enjoy yourself at your Super Bowl party.
