No matter which team you root for or even if you don't care who wins, you are going to want to eat at the Super Bowl party. If you are hosting the party, you have to make food.
Super Bowl party recipes are found in many forms and shapes, but it always seems like it's the traditional favorites that really turn football fans on. Watching the game is only part of the fun for the Super Bowl, and if you're hosting a party you want to have food that will score with all of your patrons no matter what team they are rooting to victory (or defeat).
With that in mind here are some terrific Super Bowl party recipes that seem to take guest's minds off the game action on to the taste of the food.

Super Bowl Party Mix

- 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
- 1 cup deluxe mixed nuts (no peanuts)
- 1 cup Spanish peanuts
- 1 cup bite size pretzels
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 3/4 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, nuts, pretzels and bagel chips; set aside.
In small microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on high 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
Microwave uncovered on high 5, stirring once. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container overnight and serve in big party bowls for the game.
Super Bowl Buffalo Wings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 20 chicken wing segments
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup hot sauce (I use Tabasco but any brand will do)
In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and peppers. Coat chicken entirely in the flour mixture. Refrigerate coated wings for 1 hour; coat chicken again with remaining flour mixture.
In a 2-quart saucepan, heat butter and hot sauce just until butter melts; turn heat to low and keep warm on stove top. Deep-fry chicken, about 8 pieces at a time in 375 degree veggie oil for 13 minutes, turning once or twice. Drain chicken on a wire cooling rack for 30 seconds, then immediately toss fried chicken in buffalo sauce mixture and remove with a slotted spoon.
Repeat with remaining chicken.
Garlic Cheese Fondue
- 1 pound Swiss cheese, grated
- 1/2 Gruyere cheese, grated
- 3 Tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1-1/4 cups dry white wine
- 2 large garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (1-pound) crusty French bread or sourdough bread, cut into 1-1/2-inch cubes
Combine Swiss cheese, Gruyere cheese, flour, nutmeg, and white pepper in large bowl. Toss to coat. Bring 1 cup wine and garlic to simmer in a heavy large saucepan over low heat. Add cheese mixture by handfuls, whisking until melted and smooth after each addition. Mix in more wine by tablespoonfuls to reach desired consistency. Transfer to fondue pot. Set fondue over heat. Serve fondue with bread. Serves 8.
Super Bowl Chili
- 2 ½ pounds lean ground beef
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 large green bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 2 medium banana peppers, seeded and diced (optional)
- 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped (optional)
- 2 cans (approx. 16 ounces each) crushed tomatoes OR an equal amount fresh chopped tomatoes if available
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon A-1 (or substitute) steak sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 can (16 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans
- 2 cans (16 ounces) chili beans
- ½ can beer
- ½ can chicken broth
Brown ground beef in stove top pan. Drain beef leaving a little grease in the pan, set beef aside. Sauté chopped onion and peppers in grease. Drain onion and peppers and put beef, onion and peppers in large soup pot.
Add chicken broth and beer. Stir well. Place on med heat, bring to a boil then immediately reduce heat to low. Add spices and sauces and stir, let simmer (do not boil again) for 20 minutes. Add tomatoes, beans and stir well. Cover and cook on low for at least 3 more hours.
Even better flavor if refrigerated and reheated the day before the Super Bowl and reheated for the party. Serves 8-10.
