It's almost time for the biggest football game of the year. While many believe that the aside from the game itself, the commercials are the most important part of the super bowl, but I disagree. I personally believe that the food you eat during the super bowl is what makes the game great! Going to a super bowl party where there are tons of good eats is the best way to enjoy the game! So I've put together a few Super Bowl Party Recipes that you all may enjoy. One of the recipes is mine, and the rest have been contributed from friends and family. All together, they make for one heck of a Super Bowl spread!
Chicken Wing Dip
This is my recipe and personally one of my favorite dips ever! It is a tad on the expensive side (if you buy fresh chicken instead of the canned chicken that is already diced) but it is well worth it!
Ingredients:
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup pepper sauce, such as FranksĀ® Red HotĀ®
1 cup Ranch salad dressing
2 cups diced cooked chicken (I usually use 3 boneless, skinless breasts for a meatier dip)
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Parboil chicken until cooked, dry and cool. Dice into small pieces and set aside.
In mixing bowl, mix cream cheese and hot sauce together. Then add in chicken and ranch dressing.
Pour mixture into baking pan (I use an 11x7x2 pan)
Sprinkle cheese over top of dip
Bake for 30 minutes.
Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, celery sticks or pretty much anything you want.
Now this dip is absolutely delicious but it might not be the best thing for dieters. If you are watching what you eat but are still looking for an excellent Super Bowl Party Recipe, the one thing great about this dip is you can use ingredients that will reduce the fat and calorie intake. I've tried this before and it still tastes excellent. Instead of the normal ingredients, use fat free cream cheese, fat free Monterey Jack cheese and light or fat free ranch dressing (I suggest light done right 3 cheese ranch made by Kraft- it's the best!) Serve with celery and carrots and you've got yourself a delicious dish that dieters will love!
Taco Dip
This is my mom's recipe - or Mama Morris as she is called - and I could seriously eat this dip all day every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. If you are making this as a Super Bowl Party Recipe, I suggest doubling the recipe because your guests are going to love it!
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef cooked and drained
1 can cheddar cheese soup
13 oz salsa
1 lb Mexican Velveeta
Directions:
After you've cooked the meat, combine all ingredients into a large pan on the stove over medium heat. Continually stir until all ingredients have mixed together and dip is warm enough to eat. Once dip is heated, transfer to bowl and serve with tortilla chips.
For this dip, my mom usually makes the dip on the stove and then transfers it to a Crockpot (you can also make it in a Crockpot but it usually takes longer for the ingredients to mix). This way you can serve the dip yet keep it at an even temperature so then you don't have to worry about continually re-heating the dip on the stove. Either way, it is absolutely delicious and a fantastic Super Bowl Party Recipe!
Spinach Artichoke Dip
This dip comes from my best friend Meg. I don't like spinach and I don't like artichokes, but she made me try this because she said I'd like it and she was right! She is a superb chef so this is the most intricate Super Bowl Party Recipe on my list, but the process is well worth the outcome!
Ingredients:
1 box frozen chopped spinach, thawed
1 cup light sour cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella
1 oz block Neufchatel (low fat cream cheese), softened
4 cloves garlic, crushed or pressed
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper, plus more as needed
1 tsp hot pepper sauce, plus more as needed
1 (14-ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained - not the marinated variety
Carrot sticks, celery sticks or baked tortilla chips, for serving
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Directions:
Thaw the frozen spinach in a colander to allow for the water to drain out. Squeeze out all excess liquid from spinach by pressing into colander, place in a mixing bowl with sour cream, 1/4 cup Parmesan, 1/2 cup of the mozzarella, the cream cheese, garlic, pepper and hot sauce.
Process with an immersion blender or a food processor until just blended but still slightly lumpy. Add artichokes and pulse to form a chunky mixture. Place in a 1-quart baking dish prepared with nonstick spray. Top with remaining mozzarella and parmesan. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake another 15 minutes. Serve with carrot sticks, celery sticks or baked tortilla chips.
I couldn't believe how delicious this dip was! If you want your guests to have a fantastic time, this is a great addition to any super bowl gathering!
Ham Cookies
This recipe comes from my Aunt Patty. I don't know the actual name of the recipe,
because she made them over the holidays and right after they were put on the table
my sister asked, 'What kind of cookies are these?', so to us, they will forever be
known as ham cookies. But you can call them whatever you want! When my aunt makes
them, she opts to leave the ham out of the recipe, but they are delicious either way!
Ingredients:
2 c grated sharp cheddar
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 c butter
1/2 tsp paprika
1 c flour
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c chopped ham - optional
Directions:
Blend (ham &) cheese with butter. Stir in flour, garlic salt, paprika, & Worcestershire
with a wooden spoon. Form into small balls and place on a cookie sheet to flash freeze -
then place in plastic bags to store in freezer. Bake for 15 minutes at 400.
These are great because they are easy to make and you can just pop them in the freezer
when you are done. Then, any time you want some, just take them out and 15 minutes later...
ham cookies!
Pizza Dip
This recipe originates from my friend Val, but my sister Bridget and I have made a few
additions that have made the dip even better! This is a quick and easy Super Bowl Party
Recipe that is sure to be an instant hit!
Ingredients:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 can or jar of pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven 375 degrees F. Spread softened cream cheese over the bottom of a glass baking
dish (I use a round 9 inch pan). Pour pizza sauce in pan on top of cream cheese. Top with
mozz cheese. Bake for 30 mins or until cheese is completely melted; let cool for 10 mins
after taking out of oven. Serve with tortilla chips.
This is the traditional dip recipe but my sister and I have made a few adjustments to make
our dips more festive, so feel free to add or subtract whatever you want. We've upgraded to
the pepperoni surprise pizza dip which consists of a layer of pepperoni between the sauce and
the cheese as well as a layer of pepperoni on top of the cheese. We've also added pesto to the
dip as well (layer between the sauce and the cheese). Basically anything that can go on a
pizza (which is a lot of stuff) can be added to the dip...so have some fun with this Super Bowl
party Recipe and make a dip that your guests will never forget!
~
These are just a few Super Bowl Party Recipes that you could use at your gathering but there
are tons more out there that would be just as great! For great dips that will keep your super
bowl guests happy, any one of these recipes will do! I hope everyone has a great time at their
super bowl gatherings this year, have fun and fill up! Go Bills! (Shakes head...)
