The easiest route for Superbowl munchies is to serve chips and dip. Here are some ideas for dips that are sure to be a crowd pleaser.
CheesyMeatDip
This recipe goes by many names but for the sake of argument I will just call it CheesyMeatDip. It is an easy recipe and people will love it.
You will need a crock-pot for this recipe.
Ingredients:
1 Brick of Velveeta Cheese
1 lb. of Hamburger
½ Cup Salsa
Directions:
Cook Meat in skillet. Melt cheese in crock pot until smooth. Add meat to cheese and add salsa. Mix well and let sit on low, stirring occasionally.
Serve with tortilla chips.
If you enjoy cooking and have a lot of time then try to make your own chips.
How to make your own tortilla chips
What you will need:
Tortillas Flour or Corn (one package of 12 will make roughly 96 chips)
Vegetable Oil
Directions:
Fill a frying pan with 2-3 inches of oil.
Heat on medium.
Cut tortillas in sections (either strips or triangles)
Place in heated oil for about 20 seconds then flip for an additional 10 seconds. (You may leave the tortillas in the oil for longer if you prefer crispier chips)
The flour chips are great with Cheese Dip and also for Italian Nachos. This leads on to the next recipe:
Italian Nachos
You will need to make the flour chips for this recipe and you can also use friend wonton shells as chips.
What you will need:
1 cup Italian sausage
1 package of pepperoni
1 jar of peppercinis
½ cup of black olives sliced
1 jar of marinara sauce for dipping
2 cups mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Cook Italian sausage as directed.
Spread chips out in a deep baking dish. Spread the sausage and pepperoni evenly over the chips. Cover with mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle peppercinis and black olives over the top.
Place in over for 10-15 minutes (or until cheese melts)
Serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
Now that we have covered the dips now it is time to think about finger foods. Here are some great easy to make ideas for you Superbowl party:
Meatballs can be bought pre-made and put into a crock-pot with spaghetti sauce. Another crock-pot easy idea is to buy lil' smokies and add BBQ sauce. Accompany these dishes with toothpicks and you are done!
Another great Superbowl recipe that is easy to make and tastes great is Chicken Satay.
This recipe is basically chicken kabobs with a peanut sauce.
Chicken Satay
Ingredients:
1 lb. of chicken breasts cut into strips
10-15 Skewers
Ingredients for Peanut Sauce:
5 tablespoons of peanut butter
4 tablespoons of coconut milk
2 tablespoons of lime juice
1 tablespoon of soy sauce
½ tablespoon of brown sugar
Directions:
If you are using bamboo or wood skewers be sure to soak them so they do not burn off when the chicken is cooking. Put uncooked chicken onto skewers.
Stir together all ingredients of the peanut sauce together until they are smooth.
Split the sauce into two bowls with even amounts in each. Put chicken skewers on a plate or large deep dish and pour one half of the peanut sauce over the chicken skewers. Cover and place in the fridge for about an hour. (This does not have to be done but it increases the flavor.) Grill skewer for about 15-20 minutes (depending on their thickness) turning frequently. Serve chicken skewers with the remaining peanut sauce.
You can't have a Superbowl party without dessert!
Many craft places sell molds for cakes or Jell-O that are shaped like a football. If baking is not your for-tay, buy a cake mix and simply put it in the mold. Be sure to spray it with non-stick cooking spray first so it comes out easily! To really make this cake look great use chocolate frosting or any other flavor and dye it brown with food coloring. Buy some white frosting in a tube and make the hand grips on the football. If you use this as a Jell-O mold then make it correspond with your favorite team in the Superbowl's colors.
We all know that men love to drink beer. So rather than give out a bunch of fruity drink ideas I will suggest getting a Keg of beer. Boulevard, Amber Bock, Sam Adams, Guinness, and Fat Tire are all great beers that people would enjoy at a Superbowl Party. Maybe there will not be enough people at your party for a keg, in this case buy lots of different kinds of bottled beer and maybe a bottle of Jagermeister to take shots of during touchdowns. FactoryCardOutlet.com has a blow up beer cooler that looks like a baby swimming pool, fill with ice add beer and it is officially a party!
