People are looking foward to this one because the Pats are known to have nail-biters in the playoffs. The g-men gave the Pats all they could handle last time the two matched up at the end of the regular season, however, it is up to the Giants to end the unfinished business in the week 17 matchup - Win the SuperBowl for their Franchise and End all this "talk" about perfect season.
Offense
As we all know, offense is an important part of football. If you didn't know that, then stop reading immediately. As the saying goes, offense sells tickets while defense wins championships. Well, in this game, the best defense is probably going to win. The defense, however, is dependent on which offense can execute the best - or the worst.
Patriots
The Patriots don't have too many holes on the offense. They have Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, and a pretty decent offensive line. I believe we're missing someone...- Lawrence Maroney? The Patriots haven't even used their tailback this much this season - as Mr. Maroney is more than capable of carrying a full-day's workload for the team just in case lightning strikes on a cloudless day and Tom Brady decides to have a horrible game. The Patriots are fully loaded with an offense with an offensive philosophy that preaches to give what the defense gives you, learn how to use Randy Moss as a bail-out without risking the ball, and only running the ball to compliment the passing game. If you haven't notice, it is literally impossible to stop the Patriots - and they may win 38 games straight if they keep this up.
Giants
If you predicted the Giants were going to the Super Bowl 2 weeks left before the end of the season, people would have probably said: "No, Barry Bonds and his Giants play in the World Series, not the Super Bowl" - they would have accused you of excessive confusion. The Giants have done it, they have overcame all odds and are officially the first "NFC wild card team to make the SuperBowl with a quarterback who happened to have an older brother play and win in the SuperBowl the previous year" - whew. that's a long stat.
Just when that Phillip Rivers for Eli Trade started to look like the worst move in franchise history, Eli decides to suck out his older brother's abilities and apply them to the football field. It is widely believed (especially with a Giant Fan's optimism) that the week 17 matchup versus the Patriots has turned on a switch within Eli that will never ever be turned off. Eli finally has that confidence that he needs to lead his team to a SuperBowl championship - just like his brother Peyton Manning. With the help of Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer, Steve Smith, and the RB duo of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw - Eli has more than enough tools to manage the game and keep the soar and score Patriots offense off the field. Who needs Jeremy Shockey or Tiki Barber? The Giants are doing it this year, with excellence!
Despite the excellent finish, it's hard to imagine an offense in NFL history better than what we're seeing with the Patriots. Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison & Reggie Wayne is one thing. Tom Brady to Mike Vrabel is on a whole 'nutha level.
Advantage: Patriots
Defense
Defense is boooring. Nobody feels like talking about it...NOT! This is probably going to be where the game is won. The Giants greatest chances of winning rest on the lower body strength of Michael Strahan, Mathias Kiwanuka, Osi Umenyiora, and Justin Tuck. Antonio Pierce will have to help wrap up Lawrence Maroney and Wes Welker in traffic as the Patriots like to dink & dunk if the team is not giving up the big play to Randy Moss. The Patriots have proven veterans in Mike Vrabel, Richard Seymour, Asante Samuel, and Rodney Harrison, however they do not stack up to the defensive depth that the Giants have. One thing weakness that the Patriots have that could possibly be exposed is their tendency to contain the outside break of the runningback on the defensive line - they happen to give up 4 to 5 yards up the middle everytime they play run-contain with their defensive ends.
If the Giant's defense can play to kill, while the Patriot's defense play not to give up the big play, the Giants have a good chance of winning this game.
Advantage: G-Men
Special Teams
There aren't any Devin Hesters playing in this game, and if either team relies on their kicking game - they'll probably lose. If the game comes down to it, Tynes will probably have the edge when it comes to clutch kicking as he ripped a huge potential monkey off his back by winning the NFC championship game in overtime.
Advantage: G-men
They say you have to win 2 out of 3 to win a football game. However, the Patriots offense is controls the field so much, that their offense can actually play defense by reducing the Giants opportunity on the field, while simultaneously putting pressure on the team. The Giants definitely have a shot, but suprisingly it's a long one. We can't expect the Patriots to go all this way only to get beat in the Super Bowl. That team is probably preparing like it's the game of their life - so with that said - the Advantage goes to.....
The New York "Football" Giants
The Patriots had everybody's pick during the season, during the postseason, and up until to the Superbowl. One thing the Patriots have proven is that they can find a way to win. We're going to try to state this case without finding any "chinks" in the royal armor as "haters" tend to do. The reason why we believe the Patriots will lose this game is simple: You have to run the ball to win the championship. If you look at the past 10 years of champions- you'll notice that the team who possessed a better running game; won the game. The Patriots "can" run the ball, but they simply don't. The Giants "can" run the ball, and they absolutely will. This is why the Giants will win the game - because the team has more experience with running the ball.
