Super Bowl Prediction: New England vs. New York

Matthew Fender
Who would've guessed that the '72 Dolphins record would be able to be repeated, especially with a NFL football season that has been extended since they went undefeated so long ago? In a year of records being broken, it would only seem more than appropriate if the team that has broken all of these records wins the Super Bowl? Hands down, the New England Patriots are going to be Super Bowl champions once again.

There are several factors within the Patriots system that makes me think this. Let's start off with the potent offensive attack including Randy Moss over the top and Wes Welker underneath. Oh yeah, and if you contain Randy and Wes, we have Donte Stallworth to throw to on the other side whom is also a very proven wide receiver. When you add this potent pass attack to the very capable running game behind Maroney and Faulk out of the backfield, the Patriots offense seems all but unstoppable which is precisely what they've been all season. True, the Giant did play New England tough in the last game of the season and also true that the front line of New York did get pressure on Tom Brady, but he figured out how to cope and deliver just as he has done all season.

Even with the Patriots potent offensive arsenal, they continue to have defenses backing them that are role players. The defense is always ready to play and doesn't make big mistakes. They are very dependable and have got the job done year after year. Even though the average age on the defense seems to be 50 years old behind Junior Seau and Vrabel, they continue to dominate the league just as they did all season.

Now let's discuss Eli Manning. Will this be the game that he implodes? No one knows and it has been on every football fan's minds throughout the playoffs. When is it going to happen though? He has looked sharp thus far in the playoffs but we are now in the big game against a New England team that knows what the Super Bowl is all about. Hopefully Jacobs shows up to run the ball on Sunday, otherwise the game will be a complete blowout. I plan for the New York Giants to play New England close, but the final score will be New England by at least ten points.
