The Green Bay Packers scored the first touchdown of Super Bowl XLV and picked up an extra point with a kick at 3:44 into the first quarter of 2011 Super Bowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers gained control of the ball, but Green Bay was able to intercept a throw and gain another 6 point touchdown and extra point to bring their score to 14. Pittburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger just couldn't seem to get it together on the field in the first quarter, and really, throughout much of the game; he ended up tripping and looking slightly injured for a time, while the rest of the Steelers picked up plenty of early first and second quarter penalties for things like holding. Meanwhile, Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers would end up winning MVP status for his efforts in tonight's big game.

It wasn't until 11 minutes into the second quarter when the Steelers came on the board with a three-point field goal. Tucson Steelers fans Adam Robert and Sean Thomason said they were "disappointed" with the first quarter of the 2011 Super Bowl, but hoped to see their team make a comeback later in the game. The second-quarter field goal was a slight boost, as was some of Pittsburgh's defensive moves later in the second.

Pittsburgh managed to earn a first down with 7:46 on the Super Bowl 2011 second-quarter clock. The Steelers called a time-out further into the second quarter, needing to regroup and re-strategize. Despite making some advances on the field, no touchdowns were made.

Green Bay picked up another first down at 3:20, made by Nelson, who snagged one of the earlier Green Bay touchdowns. Another touchdown at about 2:30 earned Green Bay yet another six points, plus an extra kick for one, to bring Green Bay up 21-3 toward the end of the 2nd quarter. The Steelers did make a 37-yard run with around a minute left in the quarter, giving hope to many Steelers fan for some kind of progress.

Green Bay's Sam Shields left injured after a tackle that ended the Steelers 37-yard drive. Green Bay Packers player Charles Woodson was also injured during a second-quarter tackle, and a time out was called. With a minute left in the 2nd quarter, the Steelers got an 18-yard completion for a first and goal set-up to let the Steelers grab their first touch down and extra point kick combo for a quick 7 points. The 2nd quarter officially ended with a score of 21-10, Packers over Steelers.

The Super Bowl 2011 3rd quarter wasn't as kind to Green Bay as the first two were, with the Steelers gaining ground and several Packers injured. So far, the Pittsburgh Steelers have earned their second touch-down of the night with 10:19 left on the third-quarter clock, with the extra point kick also successful. This brought the score up to 21-17, with the Packers now leading by a far less comfortable margin. Green Bay has also seen 30 penalty yards for false starts and other offenses.

After calling their second time out, the Steelers interfered with a Green Bay pass. Then, Green Bay punted right into the arms of the Steelers, giving them control of the ball. With two minutes left in the quarter, both teams got quite physical with each other the minute the ball went into play, disallowing any significant yard gains but making conditions ripe for another Green Bay penalty, this time for rough play.

The Steelers picked up another four points in the 4th quarter, which ultimately pushed Green Bay to work harder. Once the score was 28-25 Green Bay, with only three points separating them from their opposition, Green Bay picked up on their defense and kicked a field goal for another three points, widening the maargin by six points now. With two minutes left in the big game, the Green Bay Packers lead the Steelers 31-25.

At less than a minute to go, Steelers QB Roethlisberger overthrew his pass, resulting in yet another incomplete play for the Steelers. Green Bay got the ball after causing the fourth incomplete pass by Roethlisberger. With 45 seconds on the clock, time was allowed to run out as Green Bay began their celebrations at the 2011 Super Bowl XLV champions! Final score: 31-25.
