Super Bowl - Super Bucks

Tricia Goss
There has been a lot of local press about the Super Bowl as I live in the DFW area. People can purchase tickets for hundreds of dollars just to stand in the parking lot of the stadium and watch the game on a big screen. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good game. It's just that the money we spend makes one wonder about our priorities as a nation. This haiku expresses my thoughts and emotions about the game and sports in general.

People pay thousands
To watch millionaires play games
Yet kids go hungry

Oh, so true and so very sad. It seems that people just don't understand what's important.

The money paid of actors, singers, and sports figures is a real pet peeve of mine. Who really "needs" $12,000,000 a movie? Come on! Who needs 6 houses, 12 cars, and a private island either? I blame them, along with exhorbitantly payed execs, for the current hatred of the rich in America. I know "some" of them donate to charity and spread it around but wouldn't it be better done by everyone?

It is true! :-) I like to spend my super bowl day indoors, around a tv and lots of friends and good food. Happy Super Bowl day to you. I click on thehungersite.com daily. It is free and you do feed a hungry person. Every little bit helps. Write on, my friend. We all hear ya!

I think about this all the time. Two more ballplayers just got multi-million dollar contracts. Actors got obscene amounts of money for 2-3 months working on a film. Yes, some do good things with this money, but some don't.

Excellent! I've thought this myself. It's really sad. I've also thought that the real heros like our firemen, teachers, and bus drivers deserve the big bucks - not those playing games.
