Super Bowl XLI Review of Coca-Cola Ad

What Else Haven't I Done?

Sundance McGee
Have you ever woken up in the morning and thought about all the things you'd like to do before it's too late? I mean if you knew you were not going to be in this world much longer, would you have regrets about the things you should have done? It's usually a combination of fear, aprehension and laziness that keep you from doing the things that you really shouldn't but sure would like to. Well the solution to that problem may be much closer than you might think.

According to this ad, all you really need is a taste of Coca-Cola to free you from those inhibitions and give you permission to do whatever you've always been too safe responsible to attempt.

A nice elderly gentleman sitting in the neighborhood assisted living facility waiting to die. He figures he might as well. He doesn't have anything better to do. Until the nice candy striper offers him his very first Coca-Cola. Now perhaps I'm too picky, but I can't help but wonder why this guy hasn't ever had a Coke. I may never know the answer because after that first drink, I never saw him again.

You see, that Coca-Cola drink was so incredible it made him ask himself, "What else haven't I done?" No sooner had those words come out of his mouth did he started recalling everything he had put off until the time was right. There was his first love who he never revealed his love for (she hung up on him) diving off the high board, running with the bulls (should have done that when he was a bit quicker), getting a tattoo across his chest and racing a motorbike down the road (with his mouth open).

That was only the first day and there were many more things to do before his number got called. He only hopes it's not too late to do them all, or at least give it a try

And it all started with that very first drink of Coke. It could be called a gateway beverage that opened the door to the many risky behaviors that followed. Or it could be that it has released the inhibitions that have prevented him from being all he could be. You be the judge!
