Super Bowl XLIV: Party with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints in 2010

Super Bowl Sunday has become what seems to be a national holiday in America, regardless of one's belief about professional football. Some love the game, others love the food, and some of us look forward to the commercials. Of course, there is always the half-time show. Super Bowl XLIV's rumble will be between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans' Saints.

Just as I wrote about Cinco de Mayo parties last year, we use Super Bowl Sunday as an excuse to get together with friends to have a party and celebrate! You may not even care about football any other time during the season, or you may not even know which two teams are playing, but you will be like the millions of others who will attend neighborhood Super Bowl parties at your friends' homes, or your local sports bar.

The Christian Post reports that many churches are now hosting Super Bowl parties, as well. These Football Fellowships may very well be a twist on the old-fashioned church potluck suppers.

If you are hosting your own Super Bowl XLIV party, with the New Orleans' Saints being one of this year's teams, and with Mardi Gras being right around the corner on February 16th, you might want to cook up some wonderful Cajun- or Creole-style foods. You'll find that the recipes I shared for Mardi Gras party last year will satisfy the hungriest of arm-chair quarterbacks!

I'm not sure what the Indianapolis Colts might inspire in the way of culinary delights. If I were planning a party, I'd probably have to take the advice of Colts' fan and AC Contributor, Lori May. She shares her ideas on how to party like a Colts' fan, suggesting serving football cakes and chicken wings in blue. I might add corn-on-the-cob and popcorn to bring get in touch with the mid-westerner in all of us.

Whether or not you a believer in the season's football experience, this year have some fun! Celebrate this year's national football by watching Colts' quarterback Peyton Manning and Saints' quarterback Drew Brees battle it out on the field for what might be one of the best Super Bowl games in a long time. Dance with your partner to the half-time performance by The Who. Enjoy your time with friends and family, feasting on good food, drink and company.

And if nothing else, you can always discuss this year's Super Bowl commercials!
