Super Bowl XLV's Top 10 Best Paying Prop Bets: What Prop Paid the Most?

Take Notes for 2012 Super Bowl

Todd Jacobs
There is no place like Las Vegas for Super Bowl and no place in the world better than a sportsbook in Las Vegas with over 300 prop bets offered. The Las Vegas Hilton Superbook prop sheet grows every year. This year it was chock full of crazy prop bets and some prop bets that are old standards. The following ten prop bets paid out the most money on Super Bowl Sunday.

No.10. Will Either Team Score Three Consecutive Touchdowns No +155

The main reason for recapping these winning prop bets is to read this once the Super Bowl props come out for Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis. Scoring three consecutive touchdowns is tough in a Super Bowl and is usually a good bet on the plus side every year.

No.9. What will Ben Roethlisberger throw first? Interception +165

Ben Roethlisberger was -185 to throw a touchdown pass for the Pittsburgh Steelers before an interception. The rule of thumb on prop bets is to never bet a minus number unless it is a -110 or teamed up as a parlay. Roethlisberger was banged up for this game and betting him to throw the pick first was a good bet.

No.8. Will Aaron Rodgers Throw a Touchdown Pass in 1st Quarter? +175

Aaron Rodgers was the hot quarterback coming into Super Bowl XLV and getting him at +175 for this prop bet was a gift. Rodgers was -200 not to throw the touchdown pass. The ony bet was Rodgers to throw the touchdown or no bet.

No.7. Will Hines Ward Score a Touchdown? +175

Hines Ward is a possession receiver and it is well known that down close to the end zone Roethlisberger looks for him first. +175 was a nice price to get 60 minutes of opportunities to see Ward to score.

No.6. Last Score of Game Will Be Any Score Beside Touchdown +175

The first score of the game and the last score are always a fun prop bet. This bet will assure that the bettor has action until the final gun. Always take the plus money on this bet and have fun rooting it in until the end. +175 was a good number on this prop.

No.5. Will Green Bay Punter Tim Mathasay Punt a Touchback? +180

This was an unusual prop bet that turned out to be a fun bet. There were plenty of opportunities for this bet to pay with all of Mathasay's punts. +180 is a good number considering the frequency of touchbacks from punters. As always take the plus money. This was a nice payoff and a logical bet.

No.4. First Pass Incomplete by Aaron Rodgers +200

These type of prop bets can only be bet one way. Pick the plus money and take a shot. Incomplete passes in the early stages of a Super Bowl are common place as quarterbacks adjust to the defenses and their surroundings.

No.3. Will Jordy Nelson Score a Touchdown? +220

Jordy Nelson became a favorite to score as soon as possession receiver Donald Driver went down. This could not have been predicted but pegging Nelson to score at least one touchdown for the Green Bay Packers was an easy call at the large number of +220.

No.2. Will Greg Jennings Score a Touchdown in the First Half? +280

Greg Jennings is Aaron Rodgers favorite deep route receiver. Taking a shot at Jennings to score a big touchdown in the first quarter was well worth considering a +280 bet. Remember to always take shots with the fastest receivers on any team for a Super Bowl prop bet.

No.1. Will There be a Successful Two Point Conversion? +450

This prop bet is always a big number but two point conversions are now common place in Super Bowls. The number will be posted high again next year. Make sure not to forget this bet for next season. Hand in hand with this bet is a possible prop bet on a two point conversion attempted. This year there was no safety but always bet the high odds on a safety. Next year it will be posted at +800 or +900. Don't forget to take a shot.
