Super Creative Maternity Halloween Costumes for 2009

Halloween 2009 is going to be really fun, but what if you are pregnant and can't find a unique maternity costume this year. Last Halloween the most popular maternity costumes were a pregnant nun, mummy to be, watermelon, pumpkin, bun in the oven, and a basketball. This year it may be very hard to compete with these cute maternity Halloween costumes, but you have to try and think outside the box. Last year I wrote about a maternity costume called a pregnant rainbow, which you can read about at the end of this article. How can you get ideas for a creative maternity Halloween costume?

The best option is actually online. You can find online forums where previous pregnant women or current pregnant women are discussing about past Halloween maternity costume or upcoming costume ideas. This may give you an idea about a costume you would have never thought about, because everyone's creativity is very different. Or you may find two costumes that you think are really cute. Then you can mix and match the two costumes and turn it into one cute clever maternity costume for Halloween that no one will have.

Another way to come up with creative maternity costumes is to think about what goes together. This is the main theme that will either make or break the costume. You must think along the lines of what you can use for yourself plus your pregnant belly. For instance: If you choose to be an apple for Halloween, you can paint your belly white and make small black little seeds all over. If you love the ocean you can be a pregnant mermaid and paint water and seashells all over your belly. The thoughts and ideas are absolutely endless here. It all depends on your creativity level. I thought of some maternity Halloween costumes that I thought would be really cute for Halloween 2009.

Pregnant Harley Biker (make the belly the orange Harley symbol)

Goblin (make the belly a ghost)

Lime (make the belly a soda)

Cute fish (make the belly fries to represent fish and chips)

Tuxedo (make the belly a tie)

Pirate girl (make the belly an ocean or boat)

Queen bee (make the belly a baby bee or jar of honey)

Leprechaun (make the belly a rainbow or pot of gold)

Rainbow Brite (make the belly a rainbow)

Hershey Kiss (make the belly an almond)

Big Strawberry (make the belly a cake)

Bar of soap (make the belly blue for water and make bubbles)

Those are the only ones I can think of for now. If you want to be humorous, just dress up as the Octomom for Halloween. This will be one costume that people will definitely make fun of. Another would be to dress up as Kate Gosselin when she was pregnant.
