Super Low Airfare with Allegiant Airlines

Allegiant was founded in 1997 and is certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation as a Scheduled Air Carrier. Allegiant is based out of Las Vegas, Nevada but services many cities across the US. You may not have heard of them but you need to look them over to see if they service your next travel destination or close by, because the savings are incredible.

Allegiant currently offers nonstop service to Medford, Oregon and Chicago, Illinois, as well as other top vacation destinations, from Phoenix-Mesa Arizona. Click here to view their route map. Allegiant does not service Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Allegiant Air flys out of Phoenix~Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona.

With Allegiant, you can book your flights online, all fares are one-way and a Saturday night stay is not required. Allegiant spotlights low-fares, nonstop flights, and full vacation packages. Allegiant's Vacation affiliate provides vacation packages in select cities including hotels, tours, attractions, theme park activities and rental cars. I have not booked a vacation package through Allegiant but I have flown with them on many occasions and plan to fly with Allegiant Air in the future as well.

Here are a few of my tips when booking flights with Allegiant Air:

1. Check to see if they service your destination city. Allegiant does not service all cities in the US. But they do service many cities located close to major destinations. So consider the money you will save flying with Allegiant to a city close to your final destination, you may be pleasantly surprised at how much you will save on airfare costs booking with Allegiant Air!

2. To get the best price on airfare, while going through the online reservation process, carefully read all the information and charges. Their website is a little tricky because they add many extra charges and if you don't want these extras, you have to unclick boxes to remove them. For instance, you can opt out of seat selection and save tremendously. I have never paid extra to choose a seat and I always have been able to sit next to my travel companions. Also make sure to choose if you want travel insurance or not. Sometimes I have needed to make that purchase and sometimes not. It just depends on the travel situation.

3. Allegiant charges $30 for checked bags. I travel light when I fly with Allegiant. If possible try to pack everything in your carry on luggage. Allegiant allows one carry on bag and another bag such as a small backpack, large purse or laptop case.

4. If you are willing to fly standby, airfare with Allegiant Airlines is unbelievable. For example a standby flight from Phoenix, AZ. to Bellingham, WA. is $29.00. Of course with standby flights you are not guaranteed a seat so you have to be very flexible with your travel dates and as we all know that sometimes is not an option.

5. Allegiant does not have free food service during flights. Remember to pack snacks if you don't want to pay $5 for an airline snack pack.

Repeatedly my flights with Allegiant Air have been on time. I have flown with them almost a dozen times and not once has my flight been delayed. I appreciate Allegiant's friendly flight attendants and airport check in staff. It is refreshing to note that customer service is still important to a company. And best of all I am sold on Allegiant Airline's low prices for airfare to so many destinations across the country.
