Super Mom for VP

McCain Makes a Great Selection

J P Whickson
When I first heard McCain's VP choice and watched her walk to the podium to speak, I half expected Sarah Palin to pull a bobby pin out of her hair, take off her glasses and shake her hair loose. Then Palin began to talk. Thank goodness she didn't have one of those sultry voices. Her speech and mannerisms changed the way I looked at the next VP. Okay, that wasn't a typo, I like the team. For the sake of good writing, I'll change it to the Republican party's Vice-presidential candidate. Her voice was not soft and sultry. It was one of those sharp, almost "bitchy" voices that commanded your attention. It took away from her physical attributes and made her stronger.

There were several high points that make this woman the right pick for McCain. Sarah Palin is easy on the eyes. That sounds a little sexist, but it's not. People that are attractive tend to impress others as smarter, stronger and more competent. This isn't my opinion, it's been tested and found true. So, now McCain truly is one of the luckiest men in the world. He married a younger, attractive woman that's rich AND owns a beer factory and he doesn't have to sit around looking at the usual mugs, but an attractive woman, during tactical meetings. (I always felt that McCain should have responded to the Obama campaign's question about his houses with, "Actually, I married a rich, beautiful and younger woman from a family with a beer factory. She bought them. So, in response to the question why do I have so many, I'd just like to say, I'm one lucky SOB, that's why.")

Sarah Palin spoke of her family with warmth and love. Her last child was born in April and her body is right back to perfect. Hate her for that if you want, it's allowable. She comes off strong and yet maternal. Palin's son volunteered for the military and she let it be known how proud she was of him. This type of family and parent is only to be admired. She wears the cloak of a true American that is proud to show her patriotism.

Her record of public service is just about as long as Obama's, but then she's only the Reublican vice-presidential candidate and can learn as she goes. This is the opposite of the Obama/Biden team where the VP is far more versed in public service. I was quite impressed with Sarah Palin, regardless of the minimal experience. She used everything about her life as a reason to vote for her. This lady actually turned it around for McCain and labeled them the party of change. Her speech and mannerism indicated they were not the same party as the Bush administration, without ever mentioning a word.

The highlight and "smart political moment" for me was when she brought up the two Democratic women that attempted to break the GOB glass ceiling. Her praise for Hilary may actually bring additional voters from the ranks of the Democrats. Do I believe McCain chose her because she was a woman? Hell yes. He made a smart political decision. She is bright, articulate and almost the Super Mom next door. She brings a genuine quality to his campaign and draws more women voters. It will be interesting to see her debate Biden. I think the two are matched for their capabilities in speaking and presenting their team.

There's still more to learn about Sarah Palin before I actually cast my vote. I think, unless she has a huge skeleton hidden in the closet, she'll be a tough opponent for the Obama campaign to shoot down. They already are having enough problems finding things to bring up about McCain, so they ran with a house count.....So tell us Mr. Obama, who helped you buy your house? Do you ever visit him in prison?

Bobby Jindal is going to give this woman a run for her money in 2012.

    I really enjoyed this article.
Palin is such a good sport as well.
I can't help but like the woman.

If Paris Hilton hosted the debates in that sexy outfit she wore to tease John McCain, the ratings would have skyrocketed and at the end, the men viewing it wouldn't have the faintest idea who said what!

The time span from the time she accepted the position as VP on the McCain ticket to the time she must be knowledgeable about the operation of the Senate, the Senators, the Presidency, domestic issues, foreign issues, etc. is barely three months. Sarah Palin is a very bright woman, but I have problems envisioning the choice of Sarah Palin for VP as anything more than an attempt to win a popularity contest. Watching planes go from and to Russia is not qualification for expertise on foreign affairs and Sarah Palin would have been better off if she had not stated it as a qualification. However, my criticism is not aimed at Sarah Palin. My criticism is aimed at the candidate who criticized Obama for his lack of experience and then makes a farce of the vetting procedure by selecting someone with no experience in anything related with national and international issues except possibly oil drilling in Alaska. It seems to me that McCain's ability to make good judgements is in question. Good a

Great article with some true, and funny points!

I found it interesting that during the debate she had to use percentages when talking about Obama's voting record where Biden used numbers of times. The difference is the elephant sitting in the room that no one talks about. Obama has a limited record and chose not to vote a side on many issues. It's tough to find fault in someone if they do nothing.

PS: She made rape victims pay for their own rape testing kit. That was just nasty.

if McCain is elected, Tina Fay could step in for Palin from time to time and I'm not sure anyone would no the difference.

    Great as usual!
