Grab a lemon from your fruit bowl and put it in your pocket. When asked what your costume is, pull the lemon from your pocket and drop it on the floor. Like, duh, you are a 'Lemon Drop'.
On this note, there are all kinds of cool mixed drink names. Check out your pantry and see if you can beome a Fuzzy Navel, a Screaming Fuzzy Navel, Flaming Dr. Pepper (you can have some real fun with this, but do not use real flames . . . I want you to have a Happy Halloween, not a hurting holiday), a Melon Ball, Pink Lady, or a Zombie. For a list of drink names to help you with your costume idea, check out http://www.servercertificationcorp.com/drink_names.html
If you are more domestic than I am, just don your apron and if you have one, a chef's hat. You can be an eccentric French chef, Chef Ramsay from "Kitchen Nighmares" (especially fitting for the holiday), or the illusive Iron Chef.
Along those lines, you can easily go as Julia Child, secret agent and chef extraordinaire. Do not forget your spy sun-glasses and an empty bottle of sherry. Make sure to empty the bottle and clean it out. . . you sure don't want to violate any open container laws. That would be scary.
If you just want to decorate yourself for the big day and don't need a specific costume, head to the refrigerator for some fake blood and cuts. Ketchup and relish should do the trick.
Grab a notebook, wear black and white, and put a few grease stains on your shirt. Add a few of the above mentioned fake blood and guts, and you've got yourself the waitress from heck (you know what I mean).
Cooking terms make cute kitchen costumes. Impress your friends with your culinary vocabulary by going as 'bourguignonne'. This means to serve with a burgundy wine. Just wear your normal clothes and carry an empty wine bottle with you (as with Julia, make sure it is really empty). For a ton of culinary terms check out http://www.netcooks.com/CookingTerms.html
If you are in a real rush, go as a towell rack . . . just tuck a few dish towells into your belt!
Get creative and have some fun with your last minute kitchen creation! Even if you forgot this frightening holiday until the last minute, don't let it get you down! Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
