Another idea you may want to do is to make vines to hang on the ceiling. Do this by entwining two strands of green streamers. Make it somewhat tight and tie or tape on the ceiling. This creates a fun effect of being in the jungle.
Ask around to borrow any jungle type stuffed animals your friends may have they would let you borrow. Look for monkeys, snakes, and frogs. Place them strategically around the room.
For the safari invitations you could check your local party store to find some already made or you can try your hand at making your own. You can cut out shapes like your favorite animal and use those as your invitations. If you have a computer you can find clip art of your favorite jungle animal and make invitations from your computer.
If your budget allows I would get all of the guests their own safari hat. You can check online or at your local party store for pricing.
Party favors are always a nice gesture for all of your guests. Some party favor ideas are small binoculars, compass, small plastic animals, and a canteen.
What would a party be without great party food and snacks? Some food ideas to serve at your safari party would be animal crackers, animal fruit snacks, hot dogs and hamburgers. You could serve juice and call it jungle juice and say your hamburgers are crocodile burgers. An idea for the cake is to use the small plastic jungle animals to decorate with . You can get those cheap at your local Dollar Store. Trail mix would also be a fun idea to have out for the kids to snack on.
Check your local party store for a cd of jungle sounds. You can have this playing in the background. It really creates the jungle atmosphere.
Of course at a party you want to have some games. Some fun game ideas for a safari party is traveling down the amazon river. You could set up a scavenger hunt or treasure hunt. Place some blue paper down for the river and have different things along the river. You can make fake rocks, have some greenery and trees. Print out a treasure map and send them on search to find the hidden treasure.
Another fun game is a take off pin the tail on the donkey. For this party, it will be pin the tail on the zebra. You can print out a picture of a zebra, or make one yourself. Cut out a few tail shapes and the kids can use sticky tack to put them on.
Safari parties are fun and your imagination is the limit!
