Super Snack Mix Recipe

The Perfect Snack for the Superbowl... Or Anytime!

A Powers
The Super Bowl is approaching! Is your home going to look like mine, filled with friends and high energy? Make the most of your time together with ready-to-eat snacks. Trail mixes and other snack mixes offer something for everyone and are easy to assemble. You can make my Super Snack Mix ahead of time and store until game day.

My favorite aspect of Super Snack Mix is its versatility. The seasoning you choose determines the flavor of the mix. Seasoned salt, mixed with a little onion and garlic powder, produces a mix that is similar to popular store-bought brands. I really enjoy Cajun seasoning. But you can choose whatever you like: dry ranch or onion dip mix, vegetable seasoning blends, or any other packaged seasoning your family loves.

Would you prefer a sweet mix? Substitute liquid sweetener, honey or agave syrup for the Worcestershire sauce. This opens up a whole new world of seasoning possibilities. Cinnamon and raw sugar are natural choices, but there are so many more. Consider pumpkin or apple pie spice for a festive flavor. Dark cocoa powder imparts a subtle chocolate flavor, while lemon drink mix makes an unexpected taste sensation.

When making a sweet mix, consider using bite-sized graham cookies, small chocolate candies, jelly beans or dried fruit. If you use chocolate candies or baking chips, add them right before serving. This ensures that they won't melt before your group can dig in.

Regardless of how you use it, I'm sure you'll agree that this wonderful recipe is the perfect addition to your party menu.

Oyster crackers
Cheese crackers
¼ c plus 3T margarine
3 ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

Pour over your mix and toss to coat. Spread on a cookie sheet and bake 3-6 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning. Allow to cool completely. Cut bagel into chunks. Melt 3 T margarine and add 1 ½ tsp seasoning. Brush over cut sides of bagel pieces. Bake 7 minutes. Flip and bake 8 more minutes. Cool completely. Combine cereal mix, bagel chunks and cheese crackers. Store in an airtight container.
