Super Snake: 2011 Ford Shelby GT350

Brand New 5.0 V8 that Churns Out 550 Horsepower

Carroll Shelby may be getting old, but he still has the ability to outdo himself with regards to the 2011 Shelby Mustang GT350. The original GT350 went out of production in 1970, but Carroll Shelby is bringing it back for 2011 by celebrating its 45 anniversary since it went into production. The 2011 GT350 is definitely a far cry away from its predecessor, although the grandpa GT350 would be proud of the new GT350's technology and superior features. The new GT 350 is meant for the street and the track for straight line performance or for winding through the turns of Willow Springs. The exterior of the new GT350 says American muscle as soon as you get within viewing distance of it. The GT350 has an aggressive front fascia with an extended front lower lip, no doubt to plant the front end on the ground at high speeds. The GT350 has a mesh racing grill with the cars logo imbedded on it. The GT350 is adorned all over with GT350 and Shelby logos from the cowl induction hood, the sides of the car, to the rear end; just to make sure you don't get it twisted and forget what kind of creation this mean machine is. The GT350 stands apart in the Mustang crowd with its obvious entitlement written all over to its body to the custom rear bumper skin with twin exhaust pipes poking out of the middle.

The Shelby GT350 is no toy, when walking around it you will notice the 19 inch Cragar wheels wrapped in sticky summer treads; if you peer closer to the wheels, behind them you will a 14 inch cross drilled and slotted front brake rotors along with a six piston custom Baer brake calipers. This car is meant to stop in a hurry if needed. From the obvious lowered stance you may be wondering what kind of suspension the GT350 has. The suspension system is adorned with Ford racing components including: shocks, struts, springs, and sway bars. All of this added suspension work gives the GT350 a 30% stiffer ride than the factory 2011 Mustang GT which is quite a performance machine at its factory rated 400 horsepower. Suspension aside you probably want to know what makes the new GT350 get down the road. The engine is a brand new 5.0 liter all aluminum V8. Displacement has jumped up from 4.6 liters, Shelby did this by taking the DOHC 32 valve 03-04 SVT Cobra engine and stroking and boring it out to 5.0 liters; and we all know how strong that engine is. In the GT350 engine bay you'll notice beautiful blue valve covers with the GT350 logo etched on them, but what you'll really want to take notice of is the twin screw Ford racing supercharger that sits on top between them. With the added displacement and a twin screw blower the Shelby GT350 churns out 550 horsepower and 490ftlbs of torque. With all this power it rips from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, not bad for a 3,950 pound car. The 2011 Shelby GT350 is also great for many different kinds of drivers offering a 6 speed manual gear box or a six speed semi-automatic transmission. The 2011 GT350 goes on sale in the U.S. between May and June of 2010 with a base price tag of $63,000.
