Super Tricks for Luscious Tresses

There are some great tips to keep your hair healthy and beautiful. Tips you can do in your own home without having to spend big bucks at a salon.

Contrary to what you probably have heard or believe you should not wash your hair every day. Every other day is good enough. Too much washing can strip your hair of it's natural oils and cause it to become dry and brittle.

Here is one trick I learned while in college. If your hair is a little oily and you can't wash it or don't have time then sprinkle a little cornstarch or powder in your hair then brush and blow dry.

When you have fine hair (such as I do) it can be hard to get your hair to have body. One trick in getting your hair to have more body is in the way you blow dry it. Most blow dryers are hard on your hair. You can use a diffuser or an extension to your hair dryer so the heat won't come into direct contact with your hair. Too much heat, especially on fine hair, can do damage to it. With fine hair you will also need to use some products to help keep the body. I suggest to use a volumizing mousse at the roots and then blow dry. Using a vented hairbrush will help circulate the heat.

I have long heard that washing your hair in olive oil, eggs and even beer will give you healthy hair. If you'll notice a lot of different shampoos and conditioners contain some kind of oil. I have noticed avacado oil and olive oil listed as ingredients. Save yourself some money and forego those products and use what is in your kitchen.

Okay, now this next tip may sound a bit odd but I am here to tell you that it works. When I was in High School a cousin's friend had long hair and she mentioned that she was using Mane and Tai, a conditioner for horses. She said she used about a dime size every time she washed her hair and it sped up her hair growing. So, I decided to try it. It really works! I have been using that for years now and my hair is the longest and healthiest it has been in years. Who knew! I would also keep my hair pulled back most of the time and I think that helped too.

After washing your hair it is very important to gently comb it out. It is tempting sometimes to brush it fast when we are in a hurry but doing that can damage our hair. Using a wide tooth comb works best for combing out hair after washing.

For frizzies using the Mane and Tail, as mentioned earlier, can help keep the frizzies under control. Also spraying hairspray on your brush can help tame the wild locks too. A diffuser when blow drying your hair can help prevent the frizzies too.

On the other end of the spectrum don't use too many products in your hair or your hair will become very oily. Once your hair becomes oily it will not hold any curl or have any body.

Great hair doesn't have to cost you a lot of money.
