Superintendents, Legislatures and Who Should Regulate School?

According to this article, http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20080331/ts_csm/asupers Rise of the "rock star" superintendent by Patrik Jonsson, if you have the credentials, all you have to do is name your price. Especially in second class districts that are struggling just to keep their kids in school. We are talking about children from five years old to eighteen years old. These superintendents don't need to be paid to get your kids to stay in school. Get your legislature to do something. These children should be in school. If the parents aren't responsible it's time to get the laws to make parents responsible to a degree. If you have kids raise them. If you can't maybe the state can. If the children can't drive to school there should be no reason for the child not to show up! Someone should be taking the children to school. If the child has a driver's license and he/she can't get to school, they don't need the driver's license. The court should suspend the driver's license or take it away. If the child is in their teens and they are skipping school, don't allow them to get a driver's license until they prove they can be responsible- in this case going to school and either graduating or getting a GED. The parent's can only do so much until a child is a certain age. What these districts should do is to ask the parents what type of laws do they want to see or do they want their children to be illiterate? Okay that may be a little over board but hey, the child is obviously losing out on an education if they aren't in school. How much should superintendents be paid? Should there be a dollar limit set?

Education is the most important aspect in life and yet we pay movie stars more. Consider this, if more money was put into education should it go to teachers, administrators, or supplies? How adequate is the education? I just found out the state I live in is at least two years behind the state I moved from. The only reason I moved was for safety issues in the schools. Did I make a mistake? Safety or Education? The safety issue wasn't quite that bad so yeah I made a mistake.

The government should be involved in some of the school rules if the parents want to see a difference. The only people who are able to take the driver's licenses away is the government so they need to step up and be responsible. Wouldn't you like to see your child graduate? Wouldn't you like to see your child have a better life than you have. Talk to the principal and see what you can do.

i've come to believe our education system is nothing more than a babysitter and so I expect little more from it that than. And I live in one of the top districts in our state!
