Supernatural: A Review of Season 2's Final Episode

All Hell Breaks Loose Pt 1 & 2

S
Warner Bros. Productions always finds intricate ways to capture the television audience by tapping into the world of the curiosities and fantasies, creating fantastic series like the popular, "Charmed" and "Smallville". In 2005, they decided to go a step further with "Supernatural", a story of a father and his two sons on a "Demon-hunt" to destroy the demon that killed his wife and their mother when the boys were young. They find that they are not the only "hunters" on the trail to annihilate and join forces with groups from different corners of the country. Their quest leads them on a journey along the path to close destruction with other demons of lower ranks in Hell's army and many close to them were killed, including the father in the first season.

The action-packed second season ended the series with a jaw-clenching anticipation of the upcoming season leaving you salivating for more if not already buying the Season DVD or downloading it from the site.

All Hell Breaks Loose Part One is the beginning of an end for the brothers and the adrenaline immediately starts five minutes into the show when they stop at a roadside restaurant for take-out. Sam (Jared Padalecki) takes the order and walks into the run-down wooden structure, which is the norm environment for the characters to fit the dark, foreboding scenario. Dean (Jensen Ackles) casually glances out the window more out of habit of reassuring him that his brother, whom he has taken upon himself to watch over since their father passed, is still safe.

Moments later, the radio fluctuates and shuts off. This is Dean's signal that unnatural unseen work is at hand and not a moment too soon had he taken his eyes off of Sam, life disappeared in the Restaurant. A panicked search of the restaurant led him through a bloody trail of bodies to the back door where remnants of sulphuric slime coats the door. Sammy is missing.

Sam awakens in the middle of a deserted town. He encounters four others of similar qualities and age. Sam, being the most knowledgeable of all of them, tries to regroup and form an alliance against the forces that kidnapped them in the first place, but several stubbornly refuses to be a part and winds up dead. The Yellow-Eyed Demon who killed his father appears to him in a dream and tries to convince Sam to join him and take out the others saying that they were all brought there as part of a competition, not against other demons, but amongst themselves to determine the one "soldier" for the Demon.

Meanwhile, Dean and his partner, Bobby, search for Sam with the help of the other "hunters", whose primary base is hidden in the guise of a bar they called the "Roadhouse". Unfortunately, the plot took a turn for the worse when Sam and Bobby discovered the Roadhouse had been desecrated, burnt to the ground and many of their soldiers with it. Moreover, Sam is killed in this episode. But wait, Supernatural fans. It's not over. Dean makes a deal with a demon to bring him back alive. His soul after one year.

The theme for the final episode entertains the viewers to the edge of their seat until the end of the show falling back in disappointment with the classical ménage trio of events that close the chapter in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Demons are detected within a thousand miles across the country except in a 100 mile radius of a deserted cemetery that grounds a single crypt built by the Father of Demon Hunters: Sam Colt, which is the doorway to Hell under lock and key (the Colt revolver). There are churches that encircle the cemetery forming the Star of David, a pentagon star that prevents any demon from crossing its borders to reach the Gate, where the lone "Soldier" of the Demons' "competition" enters. The Gate is opened, releasing a fury of trapped evil until John (Father) comes alive temporarily after climbing from the depths of hell's doors killing the Yellow-eyed Demon with the antique gun known to be the only weapon in the universe to destroy demons.

The best part about the finale for Supernatural fans is the fact that during the opening of Hell's Gate left an opportunity for the show to survive for at least several more seasons of Demon Hunting for the two brothers after several hundreds of demons were loosed from the doors before it was locked again. Brilliant.

It's one thing to say "inaccurate" and it's another to prove it. What part of the review is inaccurate? My opinion of the show? Hmmm...

This "review" is more like an inaccurate summary of both episodes that comprise season finale. They are both great episodes which can be found on the CW website.
