Season 5 of Supernatural focus on Lucifer walking on the Earth and Sam, Dean, Bobby and Castiel trying to stop him. Let's have a refresher on what happened in the season finale.
Season 5 Finale, Swan Song, Summary
The final and dreaded confrontation between the Winchesters and Lucifer is here. Dean knows that it will occur in Chicago and Bobby finds a definitive sign, so the Winchesters, Bobby and Castiel prepare for the final battle. The plan is for Sam to drink a few gallons of demon blood to give him the strength to overpower Lucifer after he is inside of Sam's body, upon which time Dean will use the 4 Horsemen's rings to open a doorway into Hell and Sam will throw himself and Lucifer to lock him back in his cage.
After Sam fuels up on demon blood, he and Dean enter Lucifer's building and accept his request to possess Sam's body. Lucifer knows all about the plan to use the rings but believes that he can overpower Sam inside of his mind. Lucifer possesses and overpowers Sam and closes the doorway. He allows Dean to live and departs to battle his brother, Michael, who has possessed Sam and Dean's brother, Adam.
Dean knows that Lucifer has won but doesn't want his brother to die alone, so he travels to the cemetery where Lucifer and Michael (Sam and Adam) in a last-ditch effort to save his brother. Lucifer and Michael want to do battle without interference and both are angry with Dean. Castiel temporarily forces Michael to leave and Lucifer loses his temper after interference and attacks them all -- he destroys Castiel, breaks Bobby's neck and starts to punch Dean to his death. Somehow Sam's memories of Dean gives him the strength to overpower Lucifer enough to open the doorway to hell with the rings and throw himself into it and also dragging Michael, who has returned, with him.
After the doorway to Hell closes with Sam on the other side, Castiel returns rejuvenated and heals Bobby and Dean. Keeping his promise to Sam, Dean retires from hunting and visits in order to begin an "apple pie" life with Lisa. Bobby continues hunting without the Winchesters and Castiel takes on the role of Sheriff for God.
At the end of the episode, we see Dean eating dinner with Lisa and her son. Chuck, the prophet, recants the story and after he concludes, he disappears from his seat at the computer. Outside a lamppost flickers and we see Sam.

Post a CommentAnyone reading this article, please know that Azazel is a demn and not an angel.
Actually, that's called me forgetting a character name. Technically, though, all demons are fallen angels. So they are kind of interchangeable to a point.
Um Azazel is a demon NOT an angel. I certainly hope that is a typo.
