Although there is no miracle pill that you can take to halt your body's tendency to form gallstones, there are some nutrients and supplements for gallbladder support and the prevention of gallstones that might be worth trying.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is one of the greatest supplements for gallstones. Deficiencies in this essential vitamin are thought to be linked to the formation of gallstones. Taking a supplement of the vitamin may help in the prevention of future stones. The recommended dosage for this supplement is one thousand to three thousand milligrams per day, to be taken with meals.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is another of the essential vitamins that is one of the best supplements for gallstones. Vitamin E will remove free radicals from the system that eating fried foods and other unhealthy practices create. It is also thought to prevent gallstones from forming. The recommended dosage of this vitamin is from two hundred to eight hundred IU per day.

Lecithin

Lecithin is one of the most wonderful supplements for gallstones. Low levels of lecithin in the bile have long been thought to cause gallstones. This nutrient also helps to break up fats and increases the capability of bile to dissolve cholesterol. The recommended dosage of lecithin for gallstones is one thousand milligrams three times per day, taken with meals.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid and one of the best supplements for gallstones. It increases the secretion of bile in the gallbladder and this increased bile is able to dissolve more cholesterol. The recommended dosage of this amino acid is from five hundred to three thousand milligrams per day.

Hydrochloric Acid

It may seem strange for hydrochloric acid to appear in a list of supplements for gallstones but consider this. Hydrochloric acid is used to digest food and if you suffer from a lack of it, you are much more prone to form gallstones. The recommended dosage is one to five capsules per day with meals. It is advised that you begin with one capsule and work your way up to five.

Fiber

Fiber is one of the most important supplements for gallstones. If you have a slow digestive system, you are much more prone to form gallstones. The best way to remedy this gallstone-forming situation is to make sure you are getting enough fiber. For many of us these days, this means taking supplements. Increased fiber intake can decrease cholesterol levels and keep the bile secretion active. This, in turn, discourages disease and the formation of gallstones.

Before taking any of the listed supplements for gallstones, consult a physician to make sure they are safe for you and discuss the dosage that is appropriate for your particular condition.
