Number one: this will also encourage your child's teacher to use the rewards system instead of the punishment system. Send prizes and awards to the classroom. Often these types of items must come out of the teachers pocket instead of the budget, so they are not included. Many children respond better to a reward for a job well done, rather than a punishment for an act out. Therefore providing your child's classroom with fun stickers, small candies, ribbons, and other fun prizes can be a way to provide your child's teacher to use the rewards system.
You also may want to consider providing your child's classroom with storage bins, such as totes. A simple visit to the classroom will let you know if this is a need. Often drawers need organization bins, closets need totes, and counters need organizational baskets. Helping keep the clutter down, will also help to focus your child while they are in school.
If your child's teacher uses a dry erase board, it would be a great idea to provide them with some extra dry erase markers. These are always running out so it could be a great convenience for the teacher to have a large supply of them. If they are still using a chalk board, other markers, such as sharpies, may also be a good idea.
Assuming your child has a project oriented type of teacher, a roll of string may be the perfect addition to the classroom. This can allow for projects to be hung from the ceiling, or strung together, or so many other options that there are with string. Usually a school is provided with a few rolls of string to be shared between the teachers, so what a luxury for your child's classroom to have it's own roll.
Another item worth having in a classroom is magnets. Magnets can allow teachers to hang things from their chalkboard, filing cabinets, front of their desk, and any other metal surface without having to clean up the mess of tape later. Magnets are a great asset to any classroom.
Again it is a good idea to ask the teacher what classroom supplies are needed before you start your search. It is also a good idea to visit the classroom and see if you notice a need. If neither of these options help you, the above items are sure to be great assets to any classroom.
