Support the Dolphin House During Child Abuse Awareness Month

Sandy James
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and there are several local events that will be happening to support the Dolphin House Child Advocacy Center in Montrose, Colorado.

The Dolphin House may be located in Montrose, however, it serves Colorado's 7th Judicial District including, Gunnison, Delta, Hinsdale, Ouray, and San Miguel Counties. The Dolphin House expects to treat approximately 200 children in 2011. So far for the first quarter in 2011, the Dolphin House has served 45 children. This number is an increase from last year.

Serving the areas abused children and their non-offending family members, The Dolphin House provides crisis counseling, medical services, law enforcement, prosecution services, and other supportive services to victims of child abuse. A child-friendly environment is provided to the victims during a very difficult time in their lives.

The Dolphin House is a nonprofit organization that relies on donations, fundraising events, and grants in order to house and treat victims of child abuse. During April, several local events will take place that will benefit the Dolphin House and area residents are invited to attend these events to help support their endeavors. Glad to know your area is blessed with the Dolphin House and that the community supports them. It's so unfortunate that our society's children need protection from those that are supposed to love and protect them. Thanks again, Sandy.
