A 501(c)3 organization Operation Troop Aid directly benefits soldiers with gifts to let them know they aren't forgotten. The organizations and volunteers provides care packages for deployed soldiers with funds raised from concerts and donations. These concerts have been done during events like the CMA Fest in Nashville as well as year round.
People don't realize the impact of ordinary care packages on those deployed. Far from home it's easy to feel forgotten as the days tick by. The receipt of socks or other ordinary items may not be much to those here but are greatly appreciated by those far from the USA borders.
With inspiration and dedication from many in the country music industry Operation Troop Aid is able to send packages, letters and notes to soldiers serving around the world. You don't have to know an individual soldier. You don't have to be rich. You can even donate while having fun at concerts in Nashville and Cincinnati which are listed periodically on their website and newsletter.
An example of these is a Halloween party held at the Limelight in Nashville where much fun was had and boxes packed to send to troops overseas. The adage 'many hands make light work' mean with volunteers the money donated actually goes towards things for the soldiers and shipping.
The need for these care packages is not just for during the holidays. Soldiers deploy year round and all appreciate packages from home. The donations to OTA means that they can purchase some things in bulk and package them for sending to troops overseas. They also do all the packaging and shipping.
For those who want to send support over to troops serving whether it's in December or June and aren't sure what to send or where to send it this is a great way to contribute even $5-10 can make a big difference, as enough people donating $5-10 adds up to packages for many soldiers!
Check out Operation Troop Aid and send thank you to a soldier. It's needed and appreciated any time of year. Attend a fundraiser, concert or send money through their online website. The soldiers deserve it. And you'll be surprised how good it feels to help them and how easy it is.
