Supports of Death Row Inmate Troy Anthony Davis Use MySpace Page to Try to Prevent Execution
Davis' supporters believe he is innocent and the human rights organization Amnesty International believe Davis could be innocent because there was no physical evidence in the Davis case, and no murder weapon found.
Out of the nine prosecution witnesses who testified against Davis, seven have now recanted most of their testimony that was used to convict Davis for murder. Jurors stated that they were not aware that most of the witnesses were pressured and coerced by police into signing the affidavits that were used against Davis. One witness reported that he had not even read what he signed. The National Coalition to Abolish The Death Penalty is also supporting Davis.
Amnesty International released a press release on the Davis case, and Judge Rosemary Barkett of the 11th Circuit Federal Appeals Court said "If these people say, 'I was coerced by the police,' how could he [Judge Nangle] reject without a hearing?"
Supporters of clemency for David have created a MySpace page. On there, they ask: Why then is Davis still on death row nearing his execution date? With all of this evidence why hasn't Davis been granted a new hearing?
This is a case based solely on eyewitnesses, who later recanted their testimony, and because of a new law, Davis will not receive another hearing. When a good majority of the people believe this man could be innocent, how can the state of Georgia go ahead with the execution? Was Davis railroaded to Georgia death row? Was Davis sentenced to die, beyond a reasonable doubt? These are questions that need to answered before the state of Georgia executes Troy Anthony Davis.

Also, I read some of the "recant" statements.... they don't sound too convincing. Were all 7 recant witnesses so weak, puny, and scared that they told police what they wanted to hear? That's hardest of all to believe...
THere were two eyewitnesses who did not recant and one of these was never a suspect in the murder while the other was. Also, another man was shot at a party Davis attended earlier in the evening. I just became aware of the case recently so I haven't made up my mind but Amnesty International thinks all of San Quentin is innocent. Most of the argurments for Davis, however, do not bother to mention many of the facts surrounding the case.
I've been getting alerts about this case for awhile - and the date originally scheduled is frighteningly near. What is SOOO damned frustrating about this sort of thing is that expediency and "procedure" and just plain LAZINESS if you ask me, gets in the way of justice and finding the actual facts! When the main witnesses recant, that's reasonable doubt whether they did so under oath before a judge, or after having downed 5 martini's at some hole in the wall on a Friday night if you ask me! And as of right now, the Supreme Court has ruled that an inmate does NOT have the right to submit/request the use of DNA technology that was not in existance at the time of his potentially erroneous conviction? Such evidence could clear somebody, and they said "NO"???????? We're still broken. VERY broken.

This is such a sad story. I too believe that Troy is innocent .I will pray for the right decision to be made. Troy should be free. He and his family have suffered because of the lies of witnesses and the actions of officers .
Troy recieved a ninety day stay of execution because of the witnessess recanting their testimony.
All theese killing needs to stop. My husband was a innocent man on Texas death row and I watched him be killed last year. When will America wake up and say enough is enough. Its to late to bring my husband but save this man.
