Sure-Fire Ways to Alienate Landlords

All across the world, at some time or another, almost everybody rents a place to live such as a home or an apartment. Sometimes it is just getting out on our own. Sometimes it is because we cannot afford to buy the American dream through home ownership. Whatever the reason, always remember to take care with your landlord. Your destinies are intertwined for a time, according the rental or lease agreement. Here are some sure-fire ways to alienate your landlord. Try to avoid these actions if at all possible.

The first and easiest way to alienate a landlord is the one that comes upon many of us whether we like it or not. simply, do not pay the rent on time or pay in installments. Individual landlords or owners may be nice and try to be patient in an effort to not lose a good renter. The renter must realize that his landlord is not rich and may depend on the monthly rents for the property mortgage as well as his own personal expenses. Not putting money in his pocket is tantamount to taking money out of his pocket.

We all would like to live in the best places possible. Sometimes that is not always the case. Always consider approaching the landlord about property faults and needs. Remember, don't cry wolf too often. Landlords can be dutiful and generous, but, they have their limits. Do not overdo the little things that you can take care of yourself. Do not expect a landlord to supply your light bulbs for example.

Always remember your place when dealing with a landlord. Do not assume to tell him what he needs to do. Try gentle hints and clues instead. Make it seem like it is his idea to some task. The property is not yours to do as you wish. If you have a dog, be sure to pick up his droppings because (as in apartment complexes) what little yard area there may exist belongs to all tenants and most do not like walking into a doggy's pot luck packages. Do not install portable buildings or park too many vehicles on the premises. More than likely you would be overstepping your bounds as defined by contractual agreement. Treat landlords with respect and most will do the honorable thing and treat you well also.

There are many more things that would definitely turn a landlord against you and your family. These are the simplest and often times the ones that occur the most. It doesn't take much to alienate a landlord so stay on the vigil.
