Surfers are always looking for that wave to take them to the top of the world. This spring break many surfers will be visiting the Hawaiian Islands seeking that special wave.

A visit to Maui and Jaws Beach in Maui just may take the spring break surfer closer to that mountain of water they seek. This reef break is located on the northern side of Maui on the Hana highway. Locals have named this area off the beach as Jaws due to the size and fierce wave activity. The level for surfers is experienced and beginners should think twice before attempting to surf these waves.

Visit www.jawsmaui.com for lodging information and choose from several quaint and beautiful resorts and vacation villas. If you are a beginning surfer there is always a surf shop and surf camp close to give some lessons and provide the appropriate boards and other items needed to learn quickly and safely. Visitors can also visit the Surf Shop for equipment and advice while in Maui for more information visit www.surf-shop.org.

Next on the agenda should be Oahu and a visit to the Pipeline. While surfing the Pipeline, visitors can eat at the Pipeline café before or after hitting those "totally epic" waves at the beach. The Pipeline on Oahu is for Pros and Kamikaze surfers only, beginners are strongly advised to avoid the Pipeline. Wavelength is short, fast and powerful with sharp coral and rocks under the water. Many of the top pros and experienced surfers visit during spring break to the Pipeline and this well known spot is always filled with fun loving surfers sharing in the joy of those big waves and the beach party fun.

The final surf spot on the Hawaiian Islands is found on the island of Kuai at

Hanalei. Visitors can book their stays at the Hanalei Inn right by the bay and enjoy a walk on the beach and surfing within walking distance. Units start at $119.00 per night.

Surfing supplies, advice and coaching can be found at Hanalei Surf Stores, visit www.hanaleisurf.com for more information and the local shops.

Hanalei Bay is located on the North Shore and surfing is classified from beginner to experienced and many waves are 2 to 4 feet high. A visit for the beginner to Black Pot Beach will provide rental of equipment, and lessons all within walking distance to the water. All in all Hanalei is a great place to spent spring break for any level of surfer.

I've gone to that island twice, for 15 nights each time - LOVED IT. Never surfed though, just did some great snorkling on the south end.
    Nice article.

I will definitely travel to Hawaii someday. Not to surf because I cannot swim, but to enjoy the beauty of the state. Nicely written.
